Still the king of battery life—a proper bargain at the right price
I’ve been wearing the Fenix 7X Pro Solar for a while now, and honestly, it’s arguably the best watch Garmin has ever produced when you factor in current prices. While the newer Fenix 8 is out, the 7X Pro remains a beast of a performer. The battery life is simply staggering. With the 51mm frame, you get a massive battery, and the Solar charging really does help eke out those extra days if you’re spending time outdoors. I’m getting nearly a month between charges even with GPS use, which is just brilliant. Don’t underestimate the LED flashlight built into the top of the casing—I use it every single day, from finding my keys to late-night runs. The MIP (Memory-in-Pixel) display is incredibly easy to read in direct sunlight, which, for a proper multisport watch, I actually prefer over the newer AMOLED screens that can be a bit too bright at night. At its original RRP, it was an investment, but if you can pick this up for around £370-£400, it is an absolute steal. You’re getting top-tier GPS accuracy, advanced training metrics, and a build quality that feels like it’ll last a decade. It’s rugged, reliable, and the software is now incredibly polished. If you don't need the mic/speaker features of the newer models, this is the one to buy. It’s a serious bit of kit for serious training. Best watch I’ve ever owned, hands down.

Powerful, reliable, and feature-rich — couldn’t be happier
After a lot of research and comparison, I finally went with the Garmin Fenix 7S Pro Solar, and I’m honestly thrilled with the choice. For the feature set it offers, the price is incredibly fair — in fact, it's a fantastic value considering the quality and durability. This model is about £200 cheaper than the sapphire glass version, but I bought a tempered glass screen protector on Amazon for only £8, which works perfectly and keeps the screen safe. I have a small wrist, and the watch looks very sleek and balanced — not too big, not too small. I switched to this from the Fitbit Sense 2 and was worried it might feel heavy, but surprisingly, it feels incredibly light and comfortable on the wrist right away — even more comfortable than my Fitbit. The solar charging is a real game-changer — it extends battery life noticeably, especially if you're outdoors often. GPS accuracy is excellent, as expected from Garmin, and the multi-band GNSS support makes a real difference during hillwalking and hikes. I also appreciate the breadth of training and health metrics — heart rate, pulse ox, VO2 max, HRV, stress tracking — everything is there and works reliably. The new Elevate sensor performs well, even during intense activities. Maps and navigation are top-notch with detailed TOPO maps and great route planning support. The UI is intuitive, performance is snappy, and the touchscreen + button combo is a perfect balance. I also love the customizability — from data fields to widgets and watch faces, you can tailor everything to your needs. A small feature, but the built-in flashlight has turned out to be really handy — I find myself using it often, and it’s surprisingly useful. As a gamer, having the gaming activity profile on the watch is an amazing bonus. It helps me track whether gaming is actually relaxing me or causing more stress. I also use this feature while watching movies, since I watch a lot of films. It’s not essential, but definitely a very interesting and unique detail for me. In short — if you're looking for a serious multisport watch that delivers pro-level features without the bulk of the bigger models, this is an outstanding choice. I'm completely happy with it and have zero regrets.

Great activity tracking and long battery life
The Garmin fenix 7X Pro Solar is a top-end, rugged multisport GPS watch with outstanding battery life, serious outdoor/navigation tools, and deep training and health metrics. Key strengths Battery and solar: With the Power Sapphire solar lens, it can reach around a month of smartwatch use and very long GPS runtimes if you get a few hours of decent sunlight per day, making it excellent for ultrarunning, multi‑day hikes, and expeditions. Solar does not fully “self‑charge” the watch but noticeably slows battery drain, especially in bright conditions. Outdoor and GPS performance: Multi‑band GPS with SatIQ automatically balances accuracy and power use, giving strong positioning even in canyons, forests, or cities, plus full topo maps, ski maps, and ABC sensors (altimeter, barometer, compass) for navigation. Training and health features: It adds metrics like Hill Score and Endurance Score on top of Garmin’s existing Training Readiness, VO2 max, HRV status, and robust sleep tracking, so runners and endurance athletes get very detailed feedback. Rugged hardware and flashlight: The 51 mm case with is built for knocks and 10 ATM water resistance, and the integrated LED flashlight (white and red with strobe/cadence modes) is surprisingly useful for night runs, camping, or emergencies. Trade‑offs and drawbacks Size and comfort: At 51 mm and around 89 g with strap, it suits larger wrists; on smaller wrists it can feel bulky for all‑day wear or sleep tracking. Display and solar expectations: The transflective MIP screen is excellent outdoors but less punchy than AMOLED indoors; solar gains are real but modest if you spend most of your time inside or in a cloudy climate. Complexity: The platform is feature‑dense, so there is a learning curve; some users feel many of the advanced metrics go unused if their training is simpler. When it makes sense The 7X Pro Solar is ideal if you: Do long‑duration outdoor activities (ultras, multi‑day treks, backpacking) where battery life, maps, and ruggedness matter more than a glossy display. Want an “all‑in‑one” high‑end sports and adventure watch with very detailed training load, recovery, and health tracking. It is harder to justify if you mostly do short workouts, want a sleeker or smaller watch, or care most about smartwatch apps and a bright AMOLED screen; in those cases a smaller Fēnix/Epix or a cheaper Garmin model will often be better value.

Super mooi en robuust uitgevoerd horloge. Batterij duur uitstekend en als je veel buiten bent laat hij ook nog bij op zonne-energie. Hij is wel vrij groot dus niet voor mensen met een smalle pols.
