I have a 12 x 16 foot door. Do I need to purchase an extension kit? If so, which one?

You will definitely need an extension kit. The opener is designed for a standard 7ft. door and therefore the rail (and belt on it) is only long enough to raise a door 7ft. I have an 8ft door and only bought the extension for the additional 1 ft. You should probably contact Chamberlain to see if they offer an extension for a 12ft door. It might require a different type of opener.

One of the easiest upgrades/ replacement / addition kit to be done for the door from 7 foot to 8 foot doors. Great quality. Great pricing. Great connectivity.

Required for an 8ft door install

This worked perfect on a new install. I knew I had an 8ft door. The factory rail kit works for shorter doors. Simply replace the one end of the track with the one included in this kit. I was able to install everything by myself.
