A worthy and proper investment for changing tires responsibly
While this company isn't the originator of this product, they have done well in providing a darn decent guard with a material that is both flexible/malleable and durable. I ran an auto repair shop in a large city that was mostly a conglomerate of rural townships; large trucks and trailers with equally large andโfor whatever reasonโpowder coated or painted wheels. . .in which their owners took a fervent pride. Let me tell you, on black, blue, and red wheels, the smallest of scratches appear magnified and broadcast to the world. . .or so their owners would lament. Understandably, guests would be righteously perturbed, if not bordering outright vengeful whenโby law of averagesโtheir beloved rim might receive a kiss too passionate from the tire mounting machine. Flowery prose and descriptions aside, if unfocused, it is easy for a tire tech to scratch a wheel with the pneumatic machinery or tools. These guards make that significantly less likely to happens while mounting and dismounting tires. It sits on the wheel's "edge" and protects it from direct contact with the machine arm and bulwarks against too much pressure being applied as the wheel rotates on the machine. I know for fact that utilizing these guards at that shop saved me from having to order fixes or replacements for no less than 17 guests.

With a carefull technician this works
This definitely works, functions as described. Installs on the wheel easy, but! They are weak, if it is a small tire it will break, but, it offers the protection needed for the money

Material is flexible and thick. Rim is well protected.
Material is flexible and thick. Rim is well protected. I used one on my automatic tire machine to make sure the tire iron doesn't slip off the duck head and hit the rim accidentally.

Rim damage reducers, not rim protectors.
They DO NOT prevent rim damage, they lessen it. Do not grab these and think you're going to take tire irons to your expensive wheels and come out unscathed. The irons will blow holes in these almost rim protectors and you will end up angry with ruined wheels. I just wanted to put a 265/75-16 tire on a steel wheel as a spare for the truck without destroying the new wheels' paint. Still ended up with a few knicks but no big gouges or chunks of paint missing and a little paint touch up was needed. These did what i needed to for a spare tire that is going back under the bed of the truck to be covered in road grime and roadkill chunks.

Do not buy
Useless! They are too fragile and soft. They fall apart and didn't even last one use.

Too Soft
One time use. These are way too soft. Lever iron cuts right through. At a min provides some shock against the iron hitting the wheel as it slides off the duck head. But overall a disposable item.
