Bellroy Tokyo Tote Compact – (Laptop Bag, Tote Bag, 12L) - Bronze

I’m not exaggerating when I say I spent dozens of hours searching for a laptop bag that fits just my laptop and not much else. After ordering and returning three others, I finally found the perfect one. It’s sleek, lightweight, and made from recycled materials. The full-zip design keeps everything secure, and the rubber grips on the handles are a thoughtful touch. It has a comfortable shoulder strap, but it’s not bulky at all, exactly what I was looking for, especially at such a great price point. All of the "laptop totes" on the market give 1980's briefcase energy, but this is classic and modern. If you’re looking for a simple, stylish enough laptop tote that transitions easily from work to after work events, this is it. Clean, understated, and incredibly functional. I'm SO excited to have finally found this. It's so rare to find a bag that just fits the laptop and keys! Highly recommend!

I just love this tote! I have the original Toyko tote which I also love but it's a little on the large side, and a perfect traveling tote. The Tokyo compact tote is my daily driver. It fits so much stuff in it and has numerous pockets that make finding stuff a breeze. I love the front pocket with a key ring attached. Inside, there is a pocket for a water bottle on each side of the tote. I use the second water bottle pocket to carry a compact umbrella. There is a laptop sleeve that can accommodate a 13" laptop, perfect size for my Dell XPS 13. The laptop sleeve has a magnetic closure, perfect for when you want to use the pocket instead for other items so they don't slide out. The tote also has an inner pocket, perfect size for a cell phone or a wallet, etc. I can fit so much stuff in my tote. It's the perfect size to carry paperwork and documents without the bag becoming unwieldy or out-of-shape. It still manages to keep its trim look even if I have it filled to the brim. I got the tote in the gray and it's the perfect non-black neutral color that practically goes with everything. I've been using it everyday since I received it in May of this year and it has held up great!

I really like this bag and it provides things that I absolutely wanted in a tote—top zip, padded space for a 13-inch laptop, and roomy enough for an A5 Hobinichi and a water bottle. Selling points over other totes are that it has very secure, sturdy, nonskid tote handles; nice leather details; a zippered key holder pocket in the front (although the key holder is embarrassingly flimsy); a magnet closure for laptop area; and the 12L is big enough without being too big. I almost didn’t buy the tote because it is missing an inside zippered pocket. Why would you create an expensive tote without an inside wallet pocket? I’m putting a zippered bag in my tote so that I can zip my wallet into something secure, but I would prefer not to have to troubleshoot my tote! I can also see how other people did not like the way the tote picks up lint. I bought the green and it is fine as the lint is there, but it blends in with the color and weave. Overall, I’m extremely glad that I bought this tote but wouldn’t buy another unless they added an inside pocket.

I love that Bellroy uses recycled materials to create modern, unisex bags. So many bags like this are either very feminine or super utilitarian. Bellroy keeps things functional with a sleek style. I currently use this for work but could definitely use it for other occasions as well! This is the smaller version of this bag but the laptop sleeve holds my 13” work laptop. I love the pop out bottle holders which easily hold a 20oz soda/water bottle but don’t expect it to hold your tall steel bottles, it’s not deep enough. I do wish the interior side pocket was a little wider and/or deeper because it doesn’t fit my work iPhone 12 but the outside pocket is very deep and will hold even larger phones. Others mentioned the key holder to be “cheap” but I disagree. Yes, it’s plastic, but it has a nice design to it that is sleek and functional, just like everything else with this bag. I bought the navy and the color is spot on. I also love the extra grip on the underside of the grey handles! Keeps it on my shoulder without having to constantly adjust! Yes it’s more expensive than similar bags but that’s the cost of using recycled materials and green production to create bags that last forever.

I LOVE this bag and take it everywhere. It makes it really easy to keep all my items organized whether it’s just a few things, or a lot. The size is great for my needs since I don’t need to pack a lot of items around (like a college student with a backpack), hence why I got this smaller version of the tote. I’m a huge fan of the minimalistic look yet amazing functionality. I’ve had this for at least 7 months now, so it’s gotten a lot of use every day and it still looks new. I LOVE all the different pockets and the two zippers. At first I thought the outside material was a little odd since it wasn’t what I was expecting texture-wise (it felt plastic-like), but it’s incredibly durable, waterproof, and easy to clean. The inside material is really soft and I feel like my large iPad is safe in the pocket anytime I carry it in there. My large laptop doesn’t fit inside the laptop pocket, but it still fits inside the main compartment of the bag and that works for me! The muted green color is a personal favorite and pairs well with so many of my earth-toned clothes haha. Basically this bag does exactly what it was designed to do and I never have to worry about it- it’s WORTH the money! Plus, I tend to get compliments on this tote all the time.

This was a godsend for my Japan trip. Compact but holds a lot of stuff. Wallet, keys, water bottle, umbrella, and extra change of clothes since Japan was so hot. The color was modern and stylish.

LOVED the look of this bag, but it was just too small for what I was wanting. My 14 inch laptop couldn't fit in the sleeve and there wasn't room for a ton more. Wish they made this color in a larger size!

I appreciate that the tote is made in a scaled-down size for a petite woman. The design is good and the exterior pocket is very useful. I didn't love the fabric, as I found it a bit bulky. I was looking for something a bit sleeker. But I applaud the company for making things from recycled plastic.
