A waste of space on my bookshelf
I would describe this book as an incomplete photographic dictionary on framing.I wanted a book that would tell me about options for framing a stretcher-mounted canvas which the title of the book suggests would be included. There are 7 pages ostensibly devoted to "Framing on Canvas". The first page is irrelevant and just mentions types of art on canvas e.g. oil and acrylic. Four more pages cover stretching canvas on stretcher bars, which is a completely different topic that needs a far more detailed treatment to be of any practical use. In fact there is only half a page consisting of two paragraphs called "Frames for Art on Canvas" which briefly mentions ornate frames and floater frames and that is it. There is other relevant information scattered around the book that should rightly be repeated in this chapter, but you will need to read the entire book and put the pieces together yourself to make any use of it.If you want a How-to then this book is a complete dud. It tells you what but not how. There are plenty of web tutorials that explain the processes involved in particular aspects of framing that are presented in a far more accessible way than this.If your ultimate aim is to become an all round framer of anything and everything and you have the time and inclination to read through the whole thing, then as a visual dictionary of framing, this might be a useful introduction and reference to the subject, but otherwise don't waste your money - it is far from complete!

One of the better books on framing
This book contains lots of useful suggestions and is very well laid out and nicely presentedHowever I would caution that as the third book I have on the subject, each seems to suggest different methods and focus on a different type of framingThis is very much about fancy home projects. The displaying artwork section makes it worth buying

Detailed and informative with colour photographs
For anyone interested in framing or mount cutting then this book is brilliant. Covers virtually all aspects of the subject from start to finish with detailed instructions and colour photographs. Lots of tips and pointers that help the novice improve their work. All in all a very useful addition to the bookshelf and an essential reference book on the subject. Recommended reading.

Excellent DIY picture-framing manual.
An excellent "how-to" book on this popular subject. It was recommended to me by a professional picture framer and did not disappoint. A few of the terms used are uniquely American but this isn't really a problem once you get started with the right equipment.

Excellent for artists and photographers
I bought this for my partner, for a Christmas present, as he is an amateur artist, and has a large portfolio of art which he keep meaning to get framed, he also has done his own framing in the past, so thought this might help with ideas, also I am an amateru photographer, and want to get some of my own photos framed too, but wanted to learn to do it myself. Brilliant, and very helpful book, with good photos and how to do things.

Best of its type
I bought two picture framing books and must say that this is by far the better of the two. Its an American written book so some of the products you can't actually buy here but mostly you can. Easy guide with excellent pictures. I have no hesitation in recommending this book.
