Reference and fun
I bought this book for a present and when reading review on site I bought one myself. Great content and pictures, brings the military uniforms and styles to life. As an ancient toy soldier gamer the colours and options allow me to authentically bring my models to life. The historical is not missed either giving a timeline of events within the Roman world that shaped warfare. I would recommend this book to anyone who is into ancient history.

Another worthy addition to the series
Beautifully illustrated and covering the ancient armies from the Middle East, this book is a must for anyone interested in that period. This very detailed handsomely illustrated volume will be useful as a reference source to many including wargamers. It's a worthy companion to the book on Roman Uniforms from the same publishers. Well worth the price.

Excellent Book
While the book says that it covers the Greek world, it covers way more such as the Trojan War, Hittites, Sumerians, Egyptians, Persian and Macedonian Armies for example. The periods covered are from roughly 1200 BC to the start of Rome's expansion eastwards after the Punic Wars.

Not all Greek to me
Visually excellent and encompassing far more than just Greek uniforms but actually a good deal of the Ancient Near East and Mediterranean

Good overall, but I found a couple of factual errors
The illustrations are wonderful. This book covers the Greek world extensively, going as far back as the Bronze Age warriors of the Fertile Crescent, the ancient Egyptian old kingdom, and the Minoans. It’s fair to say the Ancient Greek world was far greater than Ancient Greece itself. I’m nowhere near as well versed in Ancient Greek history as I am on Ancient Roman history, so I can’t possibly fact check 100% of information throughout the book. There is however a couple of factual errors on page 145, regarding Archimedes. In a paragraph on the 416-413 BCE Siege of Syracuse, it claims that the Mathematician and scientist Archimedes developed siege equipment for use against the Athenian fleet. This is impossible, as A, Archimedes wasn’t born until c.287 BCE, and was said to have been killed by a Roman soldier in c.212 BCE during the Roman Siege of Syracuse (second Punic War), which is when the defenders of Syracuse used The claw of Archimedes to seriously hinder the Roman fleet. That’s a man who wasn’t born yet at the wrong siege, fighting the wrong fleet, from the wrong city State and civilisation. If there’s ever an updated edition published then I hope these errors are corrected.

Do you think you are a history buff?
Ok, so write the review first. Love this, not only do you get to explore the variations of the Corinthian helmet, there's Egyptian war chariots, Hittites, Assyrians, The Sea Peoples (still no answers there archaeologists & historian?) a war camel, there's War Elephants too. Phillistines (that just seems like I'm insulting you with the jaw-bone of an ass). Absolutely amazing Seriously though, Awesome book

An illustrated enciclopedia of uniforms of theGreek world
Ottimo libro, finalmente un' opera che tratta sinteticamente ma in modo completo gli eserciti dell' antichità. Unica nota stonata l' imballaggio troppo essenziale che non protegge bene il libro: la sovraccoperta è parzialmente danneggiata
