Essential for Raising Healthy Chickens Organically!
When my family finally decided to get chickens this past spring, I did a TON of research on how to raise them organically. We wanted organic, soy free eggs, so I read every book on raising chickens, researched the best organic feeds, and read every book/article/journal I could get my hands about chicken health. Probiotics are one of the most important supplements you can give to your chickens to keep them healthy without medicated feed! In fact, Purdue has commissioned TONS of research on raising antibiotic free chickens. While it is technically geared towards large commercial flocks, which I do not have and I'm against factory farming, the information is invaluable to smaller flocks of free-range, spoiled, and well-loved hens like ours! After doing all my reading and researching, I found that Probios is generally considered one of the best dispersible probiotics available. It is highly researched and is SQF Level 3 certified. That means that the manufacturing facility go through ANNUAL recertification audits and continues to meet the highest standards of food and supplement safety standards, both government and industry. So you can be assured you are receiving a quality and potent product. The 240 gram jar is perfect for those with small flocks or a family that includes multiple dogs/cats/other pets. We have 12 chickens and a jar lasts us approx 2 months. The powder can either be sprinkled on food or dispersed in drinking water. We personally add it to their drinking water to be certain they each get a good dose every day. When added to water, it dissolves easily with a little agitation. I use the shower sprayer on our hose and that works perfectly! While I can't tell you exactly how much my girls are getting, what I can tell you is that I managed to raise 12 very healthy and happy hens. I started them on probiotics from day 1, and I did not lose a single chick. They are now almost 8 months old and we have had ZERO health issues to date. So I'm a very happy chicken mom! So happy, in fact, that I bought some for our cats and dogs as well! Overall, this is a great product that is extremely affordable. For fellow chicken moms, this will help keep your girls happy and healthy even on organic feed! Highly Recommended!

I'm glad that I made the switch from Fortiflora to Probios
Our 13 year old terrier was diagnosed many months ago with Cushing's Disease. As our veterinary hospital continues to adjust her daily meds to the correct level for this condition, one problem we're dealing with now is a weakened immune system. As a result, she's been on antibiotics frequently over the past few months. While antibiotics attack and kill infections and unwanted bacteria, they also disrupt and kill the normal balance of beneficial bacteria in the gut -- resulting in belly discomfort, gurgling, and diarrhea (or constipation in some dogs). In the past, I've usually just given my dogs a little dollop of plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt during those rare times when they'd been prescribed antibiotics. Unfortunately, my little aging terrier has developed a strong dislike for yogurt, so our veterinarian had sold us some Fortiflora along with her antibiotic. Fortiflora is one of a number of different probiotics which contain good bacteria that can help boost the levels of beneficial bacteria in the gut. We'd been using it for 4-5 months during her stretches on antibiotics. After reading some of the positive reviews on Probios, I decided to give it a try. For starters, it has more types of beneficial bacteria included in its formulation. In addition to the same E.faecium type that Fortiflora has, it also contains three different types of Lactobacilli. I'm glad that I made the switch for a couple of reasons. It's a less expensive option than Purina's Fortiflora. Also, she seems to be doing much better on it. Besides an improved appetite, her energy level and enthusiasm has increased markedly. And, as any of us who love our pooches know, that's an even better reason than the cost savings! While I used to only use probiotics during antibiotic treatments, I've now started giving her Probios daily as preventive care. The only thing that I did like better about the Fortiflora over the Probios is its palatability. She seemed to like the taste of the brown Fortiflora granules so I usually just sprinkled her dose on top of her food. The Probios probiotic is a white powder and doesn't seem to have that same appealing taste to her. But, it doesn't appear that it tastes bad to her either. I just end up mixing it up well into her food (a mix of kibble, chicken/fish, and veggies). Ingredients: Dried Enterococcus Faecium Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus Casei Fermentation Product, and Dried Lactobacillus Plantarum Fermentation Product.

A probiotic I trust
Finally a probiotic that doesn't make my dog sick! I started giving this to him while he was taking antibiotics, but then I just kept using it daily. I sprinkle a quarter teaspoon on my 109-lb lab's food once a day, and it seems to keep him feeling great. He has had some digestive and skin problems, but I feel like this helps (along with switching his food to a higher quality kibble and adding fish oil on his food). His #2's have never seemed healthier. Highly recommend.
