After 2 weeks of using it.
I have been using this pedometer for about 2 weeks now on and off and I am really impressed by it. First of all if you not been very active over the last few years then doing 10,000 steps daily can be a struggle. So my advice is to be gentle with yourself and just do the best you can to begin with. The pedometer itself is very accurate although the instructions you get with it are not very clear so you may have some difficulty setting up the unit first time around. My advice is to go online to Omron website and download the instructions from there, which are much better and easier to understand and are in bigger font size too!!The clip you get with the pedometer seems okay at first sight but after wearing it for a while the unit does tend to move around and may eventually come lose off the clip and get lost. So my advice would be to get a security strap to secure it to your clothing or just use your pocket for carrying the unit. The unit is very small and light and when carrying in your pocket you will hardly notice it's there. It does it's job quietly while you carry on with your day. At the end of the day you can look at the screen to see how many steps you taken. It automatically resets the step count to 0 at the end of the day. However, note that you can't reset the step count yourself manually during the day. This is not a problem for me as I only wish to know how active I've been during the whole day not at a specific time period. The unit has a 7 day memory so you can look back at the week to see how active you been on each past day. Buttons have a slight resistance to them when pushed so this is a good thing as there is no chance of buttons being pushed unnecessarily while the unit is in your pocket or bag.I did email Omron about wearing the pedometer around your neck on a lanyard and they replied back and said it was okay to wear it but suggested that only concern might be that the pedometer might be wobbling around when around the neck which may count some false steps. So either wear it under your vest so it doesn't wobble around or just stick in the pocket or bag. I personally just stick it in my pocket! It does give you an aerobic step count also so if you wish to know how much exercise you done by walking then this is a good function to have. I just look at the step count and try to aim for 10,000 a day. Other functions include: calories, distance, and time.Lastly, it does help in making you more active and making you more conscious of how much you doing each day. Without a pedometer you may actually be fooled into thinking you done good amount of activity in the day but only really done a fraction of the steps for good health! Sometimes towards the end of the afternoon I am shocked to discover that I have only done a few thousand steps so this makes me feel guilty and I end up going for a stroll around the block a few times and bingo! I've accomplished my 10,000 steps!! It does make you think about your activity level so is good for the health :-)Nothing much else to say really except you won't go wrong with buying this Omron Walking Style One 2.1 Pedometer! After a few weeks of 10,000 steps you be feeling great about yourself and won't regret the small price of the unit!!

Good, reliable, basic aid to walking
I'm glad I bought this, especially as it's not horrendously expensive (it is a simple device after all). I chose it because it didn't do too much, and has a reputation for accuracy. In some ways, after quite a lot if use, I wish I had bought one with more features, as it has excited my interest in the statistics and I would like to know more - this is probably only out of curiosity, rather than because extra stats are useful to me.In summary, it measures "ordinary" steps, distance covered, calories and "aerobic" steps. It is definitely simple to set up, change the settings, and to use. It asks you to input your height and weight (either kg or pounds), from which, it estimates your step size - you can change this figure. It is a calculator rather than a GPS receiver. So, keep an eye on your step size during use, as it will vary according to the terrain you are on - my average varies between 22" (hill-climbing) and 29"(road-walking). This variable can make the distance measured, which it does by way of simply multiplying number of steps by set step size, misleading. So, I get around this by resetting my step size from time to time, in accordance with the type of walking I am doing. If you're not too bothered by the measured distance figure, then don't bother. I am bothered, so I may well check out my average step size by doing the sums afterwards and resetting the measurement ready for when I do the same sort of walk again.I like it because1. it definitely encourages me to walk, and to walk faster (it measures ordinary steps and "aerobic" steps i.e. where you do more than 60 steps per minute over at least 10 minutes). I therefore set out to do the recommended 10,000 "aerobic" steps per day, as the ordinary steps are far too easy to achieve. Believe me, you don't have to do much to get to 6000 ordinary steps per day, if that's your target; but if you want to lose weight, go for the "aerobic" figure.2. I can put it anywhere whilst walking (take care with the clip as it's not that secure)3. it seems accurate4. it's easy to flick between the stats as you go along. All in all, a useful aid and value for money.

Good piece of kit, completed 98 miles so far and it is my constant companion.
I have used this pedometer for three months and although it is made of plastic it appears to be pretty tough. The belt clip is good but the pedometer can slide sideways out of the clip and I have dropped and stood on it a couple of times so it may be safer in a pocket. The instructions are basic and a bit confusing but once you calibrate the pedometer if you walk with it in your hand you can see it counting each step. The only thing that I am not convinced about is the the aerobic steps feature. The device is small it is only 7.5 cm long, 3 cm high and 8 mm thick and it only weighs 16 g. The display on the pedometer turns off automatically when you don't press any buttons but it measures your steps all the time and sets itself to zero at midnight. It makes no sound when working and is handy if you don't have a watch. It has a 7 day memory and it records steps taken, miles or kilometers, calories and aerobic steps.

Satisfactory Pedometer
This the fourth Omron we have purchased, all the same model. Neat, small, but not perhaps as accurate as more sophisticated models. For us the the 4 displays are sufficient as we only want to know if we are meeting reasonable daily targets. It is difficult to set up, for the non-computer older generation and the buttons and display small.Changing the batteries is irritating as the Omron has to be re-set each time with personal information, even if one has not let the batteries run down completely, it does not hold the settings for even 1 second! But, same model used over 3 years, and each has had 1/2 battery changes. Battery lasting 6/9 months.
