I liked the quality of the material. Had to use old brackets because new brackets did not align with holes in old wheel barrel. Also the bolts provided were not long enough. I had to go hardware store to get longer bolts. Also it would be nice to be able to buy spacers seperate as I did not order them with it. Had to use old ones cut them. Still saved money in the end.

My wheelbarrow has seen more birthdays than 3 of my adult children. I recently got a new tire for it as the last one had been "tasted" by my son's dog Scout, and was reluctant to hold air pressure. I went to change the tire and found the axle had seen better days and as I had to use a grinder to cut the bolts that secured the axle to the frame, I needed some new hardware. First, the fact the axle was delivered within 24 hours meant I could go right out and put it to work, which, after only 2 days, I did just that. I don't really think that inanimate objects feel one way or another about anything, but I do think I felt some love coming from my wheelbarrow as I loaded it with yard clippings and such. The axle is a fine piece of steel and the hardware, including bolts and nuts, are top notch. Five stars

Item is of good quality but I'm so annoyed that a manufacturer would supply bolts for a Fisher Price wheel barrow. Bolts were about 1 inch too short to be useful. Come one guys. It would cost you maybe 10c extra to satisfy everyone's needs for bolts. I lost a day's work because of it. Had to go into town to get some the next day. That said it worked great and seems good quality. Making the bolts longer will deserve a full 5* rating.

Excellent, I had to make some spacers for both sides, otherwise no problem with the wheel I got to go with it.

I have a very old wheel barrow. It needed a new tire. It was leaking everywhere. Got a new tire. Then I needed an axle to fit said tire. The axle itself was about 1/2" to long for my old barrow but I had the tools to cut it down and added the spacers, put the tire on, and now it works like a dream. Should have done it years ago. A new barrow costs upwards of $200! Yikes. Fixed my old trusty rusty for under $30 with coupons. The kit works as intended. No issues I didn't expect.

Caution - The bolts that came with this kit were only 1.5" in thread length, which is the same as a standard wooden handled wheelbarrow of 1.5" and needed longer bolts (1/2" longer to account for brackets and nuts). Messaged the seller to see about getting longer bolts and no reply received, which is then reflected with low overall rating.

Gave it 5 stars but what a headache to modify. Before and after photos are included. For some reason they are selling all 10” axel rods everywhere only; no other sizes. I needed 8.5-9” as my wheelbarrow is easily 20 years or older I purchased it used in 2015. The brackets were too long to fit wheel shanks and mount onto wooden handles to allign the wheel so it spins freely. I do not have a grinder so I got cutting discs for my dremel tool. It took time and patience but I did it. Took an hour to grind the 3 parts using 2 discs. I know it would have gone faster with an actual grinder. I cut the pieces to size, used tremclad on the cut off edges, and it all fits perfectly now. The rod and bolts are zinc. If you wish to prevent rusting for bolts you can buy stainless steel ones. I decided to use the ones provided since the bolt is hexed and if ever it seized in the future you can grip it to remove the nut. The original carriage bolts were domed had a flat screwdriver slit in the which was hard to remove them. Home Depot did not carry tge same bolt screws. WD40 helped alot without resorting to grinding old bolts off. I will be greasing nuts. Spraying them with Jigaloo for maintainance. Once fully assembled. It is very solid. Insight: Restore what you have. A new wheelbarrow was between $199-$279 CDN in my area. They lost their minds for what it is and the basics of it all being non mechanical. I repainted mine using Tremclad and UV clearcoat from Rustoleum spray to prevent fading. Got all new bolts, New handles and replaced rod and brackets. Its like I have a new but vintage barrow which is higher quality metal and overall better than the tin can ones they currently sell. Their perk is powder coated finish. I know this axel rod costs $5.95 if found in store which I could not find, but it was $20.99 with brackets bolts and nuts here online. Overpriced by $5-$7 perhaps online total, but convenient. Having to modify it too was unpleasant, but necessary. I have another salvaged wheelbarrow completely rusted. I intend to restore it as well. For that one, I will need another kit like this, unless I grind all the rust off the components or sandblast them next season. The bolts and nuts are about $11. The paint I have. Bondo for rust holes, I have. Just need steal wire brush heads for my drill to remove rust in the barrow. Time and patience. It may not be perfect, but it will be salvaged and functional. I intend to restore many things as being frugal is imperative to move forward in this grim Canadian economy.

The axle and brackets worked perfectly but the bolts and nuts were too short and had to use the old ones. Overall I am pleased with the outcome.

While the set works as described, it would benefit greatly from including a spacer in the package. Without a spacer, the wheel tends to shift side-to-side during use, which can cause instability. I had to purchase a separate spacer from Canadian Tire (shown in my photo) to keep the wheel centered. Adding a properly sized spacer to the kit would make it more complete and save customers the extra trip to the store.
