Great product, great customer service
I was looking for a fairly priced cable that I could use to trickle charge (110volts) my Nissan Leaf and that was long enough to reach from the garage outlet to my driveway. EV Gear's product was great, worked perfectly. I loved it so much that when it stopped working after two years, I immediately replaced it with the same product. Then, contacting EV Gear, they honored the three year guarantee and refunded my money for the replacement. It's rare to get such frictionless customer service and I wanted to make sure to call them out and let people know. Reliable product, reliable company. This purchase is a no-brainer.

Not for tesla model 3
I bought this for a tesla model 3. i wanted to go middle road with cost figuring most expensive charger was overkill and cheapest wouldn't work. I liked it had 110 option with 220/240v. I knew nothing of electric cars when i bought the car and i bought this while sitting at the dealership. When i got home my car was down to 2% so i plugged this in with 110 adapter and my car said 20 hours to charge. i hadn't put in 220 v plug but electrician was on his way. After i let car sit to charge i noticed it stopped charging at 50%. i then realized previous tesla owner set his charge limit to 50%. So it turns out, to fully charge the tesla at 110v it would take 40 hours. After i had electrician put in 220 plug (ill come back to that) i tried charging it with my max charge set to 90%. Heres what i gotfirst time... at 72%, at 220/240 charge went 86% and quit /fault flashingsecond time ..at 68% at 220/240 charge went to 90%, my limit, and stoppedthird time... at 85% at 20/240 charge wouldn't turn on. it kept flashing fault. I spent 30 minutes unplugging/plugging in and moving charge chord around and changing direction of car to plug etc.. Finally stayed on and stopped at full, my 90% charge.fourth time... at 80% charge at 220/240 the charger never came on. Just kept flashing fault.fifth time... at 82% charge at 220/240 charger never came on.I was reading in comments what could be going on. Some said chord was probably broke, others said electrician messed up plug etc.. i was playing with keeping chord away from metal garage door, i was moving car around, etc. The charger worked perfect at 110 so it couldn't have been chord or chord placement, But 110 wasn't ever going to be fast enough to keep my car charged. I thought maybe the electrician messed up but later after buying different charger, plugged worked fine. Also reading that people talked about using dryer electrical outlet. I knew nothing of 220 plugs but as it turns out, there's a half dozen different 220/240 plugs out there. I noticed the fuses for my dryer were larger and the outlet for my dryer was a lot larger than the 220 plug and fuses for this charger. So after i had to replace this charger with another, i was forced to find another charger that uses the smallest of the 220 plugs, which may be the reason for the long charging times. So for anyone who bought this for a model 3 and wants to know another charger that uses the same plug, i bought PRIMECOM Level 2 EV charger 6/20 outlet. It worked first time and every time.

Better, More Versatile, Less Expensive Than Provided Charger
The EV Gear Charger has served us wonderfully well and in all respectsappears to be of higher quality than the charger supplied, and providesboth 110 and 220 service, a definite advantage either at home or whenwe travel. And, there is a story. The supplied charger failed, and quite possiblyburned out the plug to which it was attached. After experimentallydetermining that the charger did not work in normal circumstances wecontacted our dealer's service office. It was Saturday; we could notget through by phone, that is the phone was never answered. We took our broken charger to the dealer, assuming that it would be asimple problem to confirm that it did not work. It was not. In orderto have the charger checked, it was necessary to make an appointmentwith the first appointment being available in 4 days, Wednesday. Thenext step was to try to buy a new charger from them. The cost: $600,roughly twice the cost of the EV Gear Charger, with only 110support; and, it could not be delivered until Monday. We canceled. At home, we looked up chargers on Amazon and found EV Gear. It washalf the price, a surprise in itself, and it could be delivered thenext day, Sunday, for a mere $10 more. The EV Gear Charger arrived Sunday afternoon, was plugged in, and hasworked faultlessly ever since. The story doesn't really end here. Itseems that dealers do not know much about electric cars, and do notsell very many of them. So we went to another dealer, who was helpfulbut needed to consult with their expert. By now it was Monday, and wewere simply curious as to whether or not we could get a replacementunder the warranty. Because of policy, it was necessary to leave thecar there for several hours so that their expert could see if it wasthe car's fault, the charger's fault, or our fault. The dealer calledus back at home, blamed the charger, and told us we could pick up areplacement for free, most likely on Tuesday. days.Of course, the replacement only works on 110, not on both 110 and 220as does the EV Gear. We had considered going to 220, and at the lowerprice, we are on the way.In hindsight, we should have first bought an EV Gear Charger, refusing thedealer's charger even though it's likely we would still have to pay forit.
