Best waffle maker I've used!
I've tried a lot of waffle makers over the last several years, including cheap ones from big-box stores that I actually thought worked quite well. But I wanted something with removable plates to make things easier to clean, and I wanted to avoid Teflon and similar coatings. I tried a cheaper waffle maker (Hamilton Beach ceramic with removable plates) that met these criteria but cooked waffles poorly, perhaps due to being under-powered. I had wanted to try this GreenPan waffle maker for some time, but the high price turned me off for a while -- but after deciding I had enough of the others, I gave it a try, and I'm glad I did! This is the best waffle maker I have used. I'd certainly expect something good at this price, and it didn't disappoint. It met all of my criteria -- removable plates, no Teflon/PTFE/etc., adjustable cook settings -- and makes some of the best-cooked waffles I've made. (Really, some cheap ones did a good job here, too, but some were a bit uneven, perhaps areas where the heating element didn't quite cover as well. Not this one!) The built-in timer is nice and seems to be accurate based on the settings you can adjust (waffle type, texture, and color -- or manual settings), it comes with both classic and Belgian plates that are removable and easy-to-clean, and both sets of plates have a little extra area around the sides to catch overflow, keeping the unit itself easy to clean as well. The biggest disadvantage compared to other units I've used is that this one is a bit small and takes a bit longer to cook than some others (over 5 minutes, depending on settings--I've had some cook in as little as 3 or so in cheap ones I can't adjust anything on), but whatever they've figured out with temperature and time seems to be a winning combination, so I can't complain about the results. Two of these square waffles are about like one of the larger round waffles I've made in some other machines. They make a four-square unit if you wanted to try more at once, but I didn't want to deal with the added expense or space I'd need to store that. The only other odd thing is that while the unit claims to have storage for the extra set of pans, it's not quite what you'd think: it's basically hook/bar on the bottom of the unit you can nestle the plates on while you are storing the unit (they made it sound like it might be something hidden *in* the unit you could keep there while you're using it; you really have to remove them before you set it on the counter to use). This is not practical for me, so I just keep the plates somewhere else. All things considered, I'm glad I finally sprung for this unit and wish I would have done so sooner. EDIT: After 2.5 years of use, I can say that I still do like this machine, but the heat distribution does seem to be a bit less consistent than I noted above (one side gets hotter/cookes faster than the other, though still usable; not sure if one of my heating elements is suffering with years of use now), which may have developed over time since I really seemed to be impressed at first. The plates may have also lost a bit of their non-stick properties, but coating them with oil (does seem like I need quite a lot now, especially for the first batch -- which also doesn't always turn out as well as later ones, possibly due to the heating) very thoroughly does help. I'm still not sure there's anything better that meet all of my criteria, and I'm still using it!

No harsh chemicals - best product on the market!
I absolutely love my GreenPan waffle maker! From the moment I unboxed it, the quality stood out — it feels solid, well-built, and thoughtfully designed. The non-stick coating works exactly as advertised — waffles slide out easily with no sticking and clean-up is a breeze. It heats up quickly and distributes heat evenly, so every waffle comes out golden and perfectly cooked. Whether I’m making thick Belgian waffles or thinner breakfast-style ones, the results are consistently great. The cool-touch handle and indicator lights make it easy to use, even for beginners. I also appreciate the easy maintenance — a quick wipe with a damp cloth and it’s ready for next time. Given the performance and durability, the price feels very reasonable compared to other waffle makers I’ve tried.

Great little unit. Even cooking. Easy to use. No down time between batches. Good “done” bell.
Well made and easy to use. This is a great little machine (I got the two waffle one). The automatic cooking when making multiple batches works well and the preheat signal and done signal is loud enough to hear! Preheats fast and is quick to make multiple batches with no down time between batches. Storing the extra irons under the unit is a bit tricky so I recommend putting a paper towel between the faces of the plates so they don’t get scratched because the storage mechanism tightly presses them together. Note: there is a latch to keep the unit locked closed for carrying by the handle, and that is locked when you unbox it. The lock is under the left handle, so be sure to remember to open that because it is nowhere mentioned in the instructions. When I’m the crisp cycle it crisps/browns one side a bit more than the other, but that is inconsequential.

Finally found a classic waffle maker!
I was searching for a classic waffle maker for years after my mom threw away our old one from the 90s without telling us. Despite the price tag on this and some of the negative reviews I decided to try it out. I was not disappointed at all. I read the booklet (like anyone should do before using a product for the first time) and after cleaning it as instructed, I went to using it. Pictures are me using basic bisquik mix and I sprayed the plates with avocado oil. NOT cooking spray. At mid settings for texture and and a setting of 4 for color those were my results. I have used it 3 times since purchasing it 2 weeks ago and had no issues. My next use will be trying out the belgian plates. I also froze some of what I made and popped them in the toaster a week later and they were great. For those with kids or large families who want to save some time on a weekend morning this is great! In 5 minutes you have 4 squares made. I did not encounter any problems regarding leaking, the moat did great at catching excess batter. The plates are easy to pop off and clean which is a huge plus for me. As makers without removable plates are hard to keep clean forever. I do have one concern regarding longevity and that is in regards to the hinge. I worry that will break from repeated use but I'll do my best to be careful of that. Beyond that I really recommend this for those looking for versatility in their waffles.

Cleaner waffle maker - no forever chemicals!
If you are trying to avoid PFAS and other "forever" nonstick chemicals but still have homemade waffles with easy cleanup, this might be the best bet on the market (in mid-2025). Manufacturer recommends light coating of oil for first waffle each time you make a batch. Waffles then come out cleanly. As other reviewers have said, you will need to fine-tune the setting and cooking time best for your waffle recipe & texture preferences (keep a written record with your waffle maker or accessible nearby!) This model makes a very large waffle that can easily serve 2 adults or more. Expensive but can avoid the worst toxins of the other nonstick waffle makers.

Great Product, terrible customer service.
Amazon customer service, that is. Now when I look at the appliance on my counter, it makes me mad… because of the way that this improper double charge/return was handled by Amazon. When you make a mistake, I’m not supposed to pay for it. Need to be swift and accurate. everything that you can to make it right because your mistake. But nope. Told one thing did another. And if I can read my own previous chats, can customer Service not seeing them?? Nope causen every time. I I have to say “please let me Transfer you to my lead” And made me call back cause he couldn’t transfer me cause he was on cue to talk to senior leadership manager. Lololololo … In all. Great freaking waffle maker(when it’s new) great recipes online. Makes perfect and amazing waffles waffles (crispy) and soft luxurious soft Belgian waffles. Follow recipes to test and find your favorite. Highly recommend when it’s on sale. Follows the directions!! Make them from scratch. It’s a different dimension. Of goodness. Treat it well and carefully. Or it will never last. Sorry for the 1 stars green pan. If was just terrible customer service. You really get 5. Just had to put it in a cabinet because it was making mad when I went by it. 🤦🏼♂️

Awesome waffles
Wasn't sure this would be worth the money. But it's worth every penny. Great waffles. Easy to get just the right soft to crispy texture for everyone; each batch done in just 5 minutes. Doesn't overflow due to the deep channels. Plates come out for easy cleaning. The non-stick surface seems like it will last much better than the usual non-stick materials.

Best waffle maker
10/2025 update. After a few uses it dropped two stars, mainly because now the waffles stick to the ceramic coating even when spraying with oil before every battery pour. Really annoying. Even though the plates can go in the dishwasher it seems that between the normal cooking heat and the dishwashing out has started to run the ceramic coat. Another annoying thing is that preheating is timed and not controlled by a sensor. If you stop for any reason, like to change settings or if a breaker trips while you are cooking, then the machine goes into it's preheat cycle all over again even if it's already piping hot and has battery on the ceramic plates. That messes up the timing control and you have to keep an eye out to prevent burning the waffles. You'd think that if it has a batter sensor (based on weight when you pour in the batter), it should also have a temp sensor that would prevent this. When things get out of sync the control panel is useless. Original review:Great quality, heavy duty, perfect waffles, full of features! I love the separate color and crunch settings but most of all that the plates are non stick and removable. So easy to clean and dishwasher safe! Also, that it comes with both classic and Belgian waffle plates and you can store the second set of plates on the back. It's large, so you need a little more storage room and definitely the most expensive waffle maker I've ever owned but for what it is, it's definitely worth it!!
