This electric letter opener has quickly become one of my favorite desk gadgets—I had no idea how much time I was wasting opening envelopes until I got this! As soon as I bought this letter opener gadget, I had instant buyer's remorse. I asked myself, "Did I really just spend $20 to buy something that requires four AA batteries to open envelopes?!?" It's not like I get a ton of mail, but the regular letter openers always ripped the envelopes or I had to fight them to get the job done. In the end I usually ripped envelopes by hand. I get this gadget (love the green mint color), buy the batteries, put them in... and voila, I love this thing from the start! It's super fast, takes no effort to use, and it makes a clean cut 100% of the time. Now I wish I got more mail every day!

i saw some of the bad reviews but i figuered i try it anyway and return it if it didn't work. the only real problem is installing the batteries but if you try to put them straight in with some extra force instead of trying to push them in at an angle, it worked for me. it is nice, compact and zips the envelope right through as soon as you get the hang of holding the envelope and the machine correctly then it slices a thin strip off the top of the envelope...perfect. i will use it for 28 days and if it goes bad i will return it. 4 stars because of the bad battery fit.

I love this my fingers won't hurt nor get paper cut from time, and I do know how to open mail but it makes it easier especially when your getting alot of it.

This SYLCXX battery operated electric letter opener was gifted to a lady with rheumatoid arthritis. She was very appreciative and happy to have it since it helped tremendously with her ability to open her mail. She had great difficulty in the past trying to use a handheld letter opener but this electric letter opener allows her to open envelopes with such ease and no discomfort to her hands. The cost is also very reasonable!

I really wanted to like this electric letter opener, but after several attempts to make it work, I’ve given up. Despite replacing the batteries three times, the motor remains incredibly weak. The Main Issues: Lack of Power: Even with fresh batteries, the motor runs so slowly that it lacks the torque to cut through paper. Constant Jamming: Instead of a clean slice, the device "drags" against the paper. My envelopes constantly get stuck halfway through, often resulting in torn edges rather than a clean open. Inability to Handle Thin Paper: This isn't just a struggle with thick cardstock; it won't even slide through a standard, thin envelope without struggling and eventually coming to a stop. Bottom Line: A manual letter opener or even a pair of scissors is faster and more reliable than this. If you’re looking for a "time-saver," keep looking. This one is going in the bin.
