A happy piano man!
I have been playing this for hours since I recieved it and it continues to impresss me with sound quality and performance. The volume with the headphones on is a little low but the boost option fixes that. I am a happy piano man.

Great Investment
This is an excellent instrument for all skill levels. The sound and response of the weighted keys is phenomenal. I don't think keyboards of any price will ever match a good acoustic piano, but this one comes very close, and you don't have to break the bank or add another room to your house. Some reviews were written lamenting the price, but you get what you pay for in this case. I never got to try out the top keyboards like the Roland V Piano; it was simply more than I was willing to pay for an instrument, but i think it would be hard to match the quality and sound of the Yamaha p-255. Hook a good amp to this keyboard and you have one awesome platform. It may not have all the bells and whistles that most people never use anyway, but I'll forgo these things to have an ultimate quality instrument that sounds great.

Surely as good as it gets at this price point.
This is a great "keyboard." It's actually more than a keyboard because it's not the usual synthesizer. The piano notes are digitized recordings from a high-end Yamaha grand piano. This is our second one. We use it when traveling in our RV. We loaned our first one to our grand daughter and she was getting so much use out of it, we could not bring ourselves to ask to have it back.If there's a downside to this unit, it's the smallish 4" speakers. Though there really isn't room for larger speakers .. and the speakers do really well given their modest size. I'm not sure any instrument like this will have better speakers unless they are no top and I think having them on the back is better ... even though the unit faces a wall most of the time.We have a Mason and Hamlin upright from the 70's ($3000 when new in 1973) which is a pretty decent piano and my wife has no problem switching to this unit when we hit the road in our RV.It is heavy! About 40 lbs. Though this is probably a good thing. It gets bounced around a bit in our RV and in over a year has not missed a beat.

Keyboard is great. They don't make it or the stand anymore. Here is a solution.
I had an issue that my P255 on stand was in the way of a mirror that sometimes we'd like to be fully clear (I was receiving complaints about this for years). As a solution I got a stainless steel bracket fabricated that would fit this bracket as well as my P255 keyboard screws that originally allowed it to be attached to the yamaha keyboard stand.Anchoring one side ot metal stud and the other to dry wall only I was able to solve the problem. Piano can fold down when not in use and otherwise sits at same level the stand used to be at.
