Review: First print vs current print edition is not the same - I love this book and greatly admire and appreciate the work and educational content that Kristine Albrecht puts out. This is a very comprehensive and informative book that also includes beautiful photos and spotlights of other growers of dahlias around the world. I bought and pre ordered this book when it first came out and absolutely love it. I bought a second copy recently to give as a Christmas gift to a family member who became interested in gardening. When I examined the new book, I immediately felt like something felt different even though the content seemed to be the same. I grabbed my original print and sure enough there is a difference in the quality of paper and crispness of print. While both are fully legible, the recent print has a more vibrant but slightly cropped set of photos on the cover, while the inside feels like the opposite. Photos inside the newer book look more faded compared to the original print. Text inside are all a bit shadowed, which makes it feel a little bolder. The paper feels thinner so I feel like I can see text on the other side thru the page moreโฆ it feels like it was printed on an old school inkjet vs laser printer. That said, both are readable with the same text and photos on the same pages overall. My preference is for the original. That said, if you donโt know any better, you may find this edition just fine, or more than fine given the awesome content in the book! Iโm not sure how to verify if this was just a misprint or if thatโs just how newer editions are printed, but I thought I would share on here in case that information is useful. If I didnโt have the book already I would still be delighted to have this book on hand as a reference, but if the author or publisher has a choice, I would recommend using the original printer or of similar quality for future printings. I think the text and inside photos look crisper, the feel of the paper was better, and it has less distraction on the page from subsequent page text to show thru. I tried to include photos but realized itโs a bit hard to capture. If anything I think the newer edition probably photographs a little better since the font looks a little bigger or bolder. But I tried to zoom in so you could kind of see how behind the text on the page you see more of the shadows of subsequent page text thru one more than the other (thatโs the newer edition). The top bottom photo that is zoomed out, the newer edition looks brighter actually and less shadowed. I feel like it photographs better but in person I think that the original photo colors look more vibrant and less overexposed. Totally probably a minor observation but quite surprising to me. Bottom line though is if you grow dahlias, absolutely get this book and support the grower/author. She is amazing! I wish I had this book when I began growing. Itโs the most comprehensive single publication on dahlias I have found.

So excited about this book - thank you!!
I'll start with my bias - I consider Kristine Albrecht to be THE highest authority on dahlias! I call her my sensei. As a newly minted dahlia enthusiast, I watch her videos religiously to answer my dahlia questions (and just to see her dahlias), so of COURSE I wanted this book! But really, it is exceeding my expectations. It's concise, comprehensive, and well written. Including the advice of growers in different climates is particularly helpful. I grow dahlias in NC and have already found many useful ideas. I also love the mix of informative photos and dahlia eye candy! Thank you so, so much for taking the time to write this and share your knowledge! If I have any success with my dahlias, it will be in large part thanks to your resources. THANK YOU, KRISTINE!

Very comprehensive
I read this book รฌn one day it was so good. Very detailed info about soil, seeds, and tubers. Very close up pictures of what a tuber eye is, how to plant, how to make cuttings and how to divide tubers later properly. Tips for success growing dahlias are offered from across the climates of the world! Great pictures throughout. Very comprehensive text. This quality book should have been hard- back, but sadly it is not. Other that, it is a perfect book on dahlias. Note: my copy had perfectly clear photos and text.

the most in-depth book on dahlias out there
There is a wealth of information and even after growing dahlias as a passionate hobbyist for over 30 years, I have learned a lot. Some of the information I check with my dahlia group and the expert commercial growers - and i usually follow what they say if it contradicts the book because I don't grow for show. If you decide to pinch the plants, for instance - do so before they are 6 or 8 inches high! Don't wait too long, and know that this will delay flowering for weeks. But all in all, the book is fantastic and I am so glad I bought it. I will use it and I have made copious notes in the margins, and lots of underlines and brackets of info I want to find again.

Beautiful and huge
I hesitated because of price but I should have known better being it is from Kristine Albrecht, genius Dahlia breeder. I watch all her videos on YouTube. She is so knowledgeable, I know I will refer to this often. I also own her book Dahlia Breeding and it is also good.
