Forget the Rough Guide and the Lonely Planet and all the backpackers guides, they will give you pages & pages of data to sift through and try to analyse. If you really want to get a true taste of what to expect on a forthcoming visit to the area, buy this book. With its colourful photos, maps, and diagrams it will not only whet your appetite, but provide a truly accurate and vivid picture of what's in store and allow you to plan trips and visits with confidence and anticipation. The only pity is that is not yet a "scratch 'n' sniff" version. Buy it, you won't be disappointed (unless you're a backpacker!).

A must have!
Just took a trip to India. This book contains all the essentials needed to plan and prepare to get the most of your visit. Pictures and illustrations are wonderfully informative. Get one before your trip and then take it with you. I've used DK travel guides for years - they've always been a trusted and reliable source of information on my journeys.

Good book - good info - good pics
purchased this book for a trip to delhi - good overview - good over-all info about the country and city - good travel size. I would recommend this book -(and this seller) but also book a in-person guide in Delhi - it is a very big city! The book helped us narrow down and communicate to our guide what we wanted to see, on our day trip.

Got daily use in India
These are great books and have used them before, so knew that it would help with the trip to northern India. What a wonderful place and great info in the book!!!

Beautiful Guide Needs Updating
This is an excellent guide with one exception. They need to update it. For example they did not include several incredible temples, mosques, and areas that our guides took us to see. Also they recommend riding an elephant which India is phasing out due to cruelty to the animals.
