Right part for the job...almost
Real talk time. I'm a grown man and sometimes I cut corners. Who's with me?! (Insert Ric Flair sounds) Whoo! My mower was giving me fits and it had been the solenoid in the past, so I ordered another without actually checking. Well...that wasn't the issue. While this one functions exactly as it should, fit in the right spot, is built exactly the same as the factory unit, was much cheaper, and was super easy to install, my mower still won't start as designed. However, if you use channel locks and connect the main terminals, it starts right up. Something else in the wiring is grumpy, but I'm not fixing anything as long as I can still hotwire my own vehicle.

Easy, money saving DIY repair!
A bad starter solenoid is the usual suspect if your battery is good and you just get a single click. This is a direct replacement. Remove battery, remove battery straps. The solenoid is against the back of the frame to the left when you look inside. The screw holding it on is on the outside. Two slide on connections and two terminal nut connections. Very easy to swap out. Started right up. I'm guessing these are all made in the same factory overseas whoever you buy it from. The original lasted about 3 years, the first replacement about 3 years. So I'm expecting this one should last 3 seasons as well.
