These brushes are heaven sent for those who can't afford to pay what the eurocrooks are charging for squirrel brushes. Unlike the, very nice in their own way, synthetic quills, these hold a lot of water and behave in every way like real squirrel quills. Good squirrel quills. Although I also like the way synthetic quills have that snap; a real quill sort of stands there unmoving once wetted, and this permits exceptional control, so that if you want to write with it like a pen, you can. These brushes do that. Every single one comes to a point like a needle, they are silky soft and hold tons of water. I did not receive a sample of these brushes for review, I paid for them with my own money, but they were that good I had to set aside the time to do this review. Do not put these lovely brushes into hot water, hot water damages natural hair and adhesive, like putting a fur coat in hot water. The stiffener will dissolve completely if you just put the brush into cold water and leave it a while as you would normally when painting. If you're in a hurry, just run them under cold water and massage the bristles. I know what it's like to have to budget and to be dismayed by the price of art supplies; I promise you will love these wonderful and affordably priced watercolor quills. Absolutely love.

Have only used one so far…prepared brush recommended by manufacturer…agitate in boiling water for a few mins. Hold lots of paint, and keeps a fine point for fine lines. Am rather pleased som far! However yesterday tried the smaller brush….the tip is a disaster………..will update when I try the rest o the brushes

These are not standard sized, they are MUCH bigger. I'm going to return. Packaging is very secure.
