Pentel Twist-Erase III Mechanical Pencil, (0.7mm), Black Barrel, 12 Pack (QE517A)

I've been drawing for 11 years now and this is single handedly the best sketching pencil I've ever used. *Not only does this pencil have a twist eraser, the erasing is smooth and doesn't leave marks. *The twist doesn't come undone while you draw; the eraser is fixed in place unless you tamper with it. *The grip is perfect for drawing hours on end. No more sore fingers! *The lead is soft, responsive, but durable. If you want a darker line, just push harder on the paper. The pencil responds amazingly; unlike a normal mechanical which seems to scratch and squeal. *You also only need one pack of these bad boys! Erasers and lead are refillable. I'm genuinely obsessed with these pencils. Expensive but worth it.

My college age son (studying electrical engineering, doing lots of homework on paper) loves these pencils and specifically asks for them. Strong, dark lead, good erasers. Highly recommend

I am a mechanical pencil connoisseur, and these are the best pencils I have used. I but this model exclusively. They are a nice weight and the 0.7mm led does not break easily, so if you push too hard you don't end up with your led flying everywhere. There is a pad on them where they are held so they are comfortable to write with for a longer period of time. The twist eraser is effective and does not run out quickly. On top of that both the led and the erasers are simple to replace. Be aware that the pencils in this box arrive with only 1 piece of led in each of them, so you might want to purchase some extra led at the time that you buy these pencils.

I began using these several years ago and I really like them because they eliminate most of the issues that are characteristic of many mechanical pencils on the market, namely: (1) too little eraser; (2) too flexible; (3) uncomfortable to hold. In contrast, this pencil has an ample twist-to-extend eraser, which is a full 1.25 inches (3 cm) long when extended -- i.e., you will not easily run out of eraser. The eraser itself is of good quality and it removes lead cleanly and very smoothly. I have used it on paper and on painted surfaces (e.g., when marking walls for repair work). The rubber grip is soft and comfortable, yet it still provides enough solid tactile feedback for precision use. The diameter fits my fingers well -- it is not thin and overly flexible like some pencils I have used, nor is it so bulky as to be clumsy. The lead writes smoothly and is extended by clicking the top of the pencil. It comes with three leads in the barrel -- combined with the long, broad eraser, this pencil should last you a long time without any replacement items.

I will be honest. You can buy these pencils in Staples, Office Depot, and other office supply stores. These pencils are my favorite! They write well, they have twist out erasers, and they are high-quality also looking professional. What I like about Amazon is they are delivered to my door for a cheaper price when I buy them in bulk! I also recommend purchasing high polymer lead.

These are my favourite pencils for work. I got a lot of math notes down etc and prefer writing with pencil then pen. My only complaint about these pencils is that sometimes the lead breaks off in jams the point comma which spells the end of that pencil. But that might just be an issue with all mechanical pencils.

I've purchased a few dozen of these over the years. They are outstanding mechanical pencils. Any pencil will do, if you don't need erase anything. But the twist erase feature of these pencils makes all the difference. Good weight, easy to reload lead, available in multiple lead thicknesses, a variety of aftermarket leads in an assorted array of hardnesses (I keep some one loaded with HB and another in 2H), and these are so well built that they could last forever - assuming you don't have kids who continually borrow and immediately lose them.

I have used multiple brands/models of mechanical pencils. These are the ones. They are reliable and the lead does not break. The eraser can be extended to give you a long-life eraser. Comes with extra erasers, although I have not had to change mine yet. My wife is a crossword fanatic and she loves these mechanical pencils. The lead was always breaking or the tip of the pencil. She never had enough eraser, now she does. The perfect mechanical pencil.

These are good. I have quite a few colour variations and lead sizes. Colour is more of a dull deep red. What you see as the first picture with the pencil next to the box. Only thing that I’m bothered by with these is the horrible clip. I mean it works… but it is uncomfortable and not attractive at all.
