Remote range is short and it leaks in the Rain
Not Weather Proof, mine leaked with first heavy rain and stopped working but when it dried out it now works fine other than that it Works Great however the Remote range is short only about 20 feet in the dark and less than 10 feet in full sun. I have skunks that go under my house and spray and stink my house up so I put one of these mounted about 6' off of the ground on dog Bark Gun Shot and it scares them off. The record feature records 20 seconds of your voice or in my case a skunk distress call that I fond on youtube and that scares them even worse. Pro: Solar or USB Charging, Realistic Gun Shots with Vicious Dogs Barking at the same time, Record up to 20 seconds of your voice or something from youtube like a Rat or Skunk Distress Call. Con: Not Weatherproof, Remote has Short Range and there is an OFF Button on the Remote but No ON Button and if you turn it OFF with Remote you must Turn it ON on the Solar Alarm Unit itself, kinda dumb if you ask me. I like it but it could use some improvement like an ON Button on the Remote and better Waterproofing. I am getting another one for our Carport to ward off Intruders, that Gun Dog Bark scared the heck out of me when I had forgot it was out there. UPDATE: Almost 30 days after purchase the Unit has Died after last rain and this time when dried out it still will not turn on and it will not charge by solar or usb. Bummer I liked it.

Works as intended for scaring animals, and people too.
So far this motion alarm has served its purpose! It's kept its charge just fine, but we don't keep it outside in the weather all the time, so I'm sure that helps with wear/tear. It has scared away wandering animals and, unintentionally, us too, lol. I bought it for my mother's backyard because she has a problem with squirrels, rabbits, and birds nabbing her fruits and veggies before she gets a chance to harvest anything. We like the recording setting the best; I recorded myself yelling like a crazy person. Sensitivity seems to be pretty good but you have to be intentional about where you position it of course. That may take some testing and adjusting depending on what you're targeting. Going to set this by her garden as things ripen and hopefully deter some of the thieving. I'm sure a good young dog would do the job too, but she doesn't have that as an option, so this seems like a fair & humane alternative.

Nice and loud, but the remote will not turn it on...that is manual only
Nice and loud! Picks up motion from a wide angle at about 10-15 feet. Worked great right near a door, but I needed one other that had motion sensors also on the sides. Only problem is that you have to manual press the on button

Effective against squirrels under cars
I bought my first Hulppre alarm in 10/2024. At the time my cars were being attacked by squirrels who wanted to grind down their teeth. This alarm, shaped like a box, when placed on the ground and pointing underneath a car very effectively repelled squirrels. A squirrel then became adept at hiding behind a tire from the noise. I eventually bought more alarms so I could place one at the front and one at the rear of each car. This has been the only solution that worked to my squirrel problem. Squirrels get used to the noise and learn to ignore it, but apparently the volume is so high at close range that the noise is intolerable. The alarms occasionally produce false positives in a rainstorm when wind blows nearby vegetation around, but I can live with this. I also wanted to say something about Amazon delivery: I have experienced nothing but stellar (fast, reliable, to my door) deliveries for many products. I am astonished when comparing to any of the other delivery services. No, I'm not being compensated in any way for this review.

Battery charging circuitry is bad
Stopped working after 6 weeks. And of course the return window is only 4 weeks. It would say the battery was low even after charging it for over 8 hours. So I bought a new battery, disassembled the unit and replaced the battery with a soldering iron. I charged the unit with the new battery for 2 hours and it started working again. We'll see how long it lasts with the replacement battery. UPDATE - 09/23/25 The battery isn't the problem. It's the charging circuitry. I had the same issue after replacing the battery. Once the new battery went dead, the product won't accept a charge. I left it plugged in all evening. Nothing. Then I left it plugged in all night. Nothing. The product keeps saying "Low battery. Please charge." It's worthless and going in the garbage. The only bright side is the company refunded my purchase., even after the return period expired.

Doesn’t quite traumatize chickens
We have backyard chickens and they like to come into our front porch and crap on everything. We bought this motion activated speaker, hoping that the chickens would trigger its sound and the sound would traumatize them, and they’d leave the porch. For the first few days it seemed to adequately traumatize the chickens. They would trigger the motion sensor and cause the default sound to play (dogs barking and gunshots), and they’d run from the porch. Unfortunately, the sound of heavily armed, furious dogs was also an affront to our own dogs, who would lose their minds inside the house. But over time, our dogs have become indifferent to the noise. They no longer bark, and the chickens seem to have figured out that if the real dogs aren’t upset, they don’t need to be, either. They have started drifting back to the porch, and only seem deterred if we move the speaker around a lot so the sound comes from different places. If I had time to be on the porch constantly moving the speaker I could just stay out there barking and firing guns myself. So I am giving this product four stars because it works as advertised and only sounds somewhat tinny. But I cannot rave about it because our chickens are not so much traumatized as simply inconvenienced.

After a month, so far so good! A great value if it lasts!
I like it! Using it to keep the cat out of the Christmas tree, and, so far, it is working. It's pretty loud in the house. Don't know about outside. The only thing I don't like is that the 5v charging port requires a barrel connector, instead of USB, to connect to a USB charger, and that is terribly inconvenient, especially since the supplied charging cord is only about a foot long. I ordered a pair of 5.5mm x 2.1mm male to USB-C female adapters so that I can use a regular USB-C charging cable, and I shouldn't have had to do that. The adapter should have been included. Or, better yet, why not make the charging port USB-C in the first place? All in all, if it lasts, it is a great value. UPDATE! - I put this little fellow into service on December 10, after full charge, to guard the Christmas tree, and it has been working ever since. Tomorrow will be Jan 10th, or a full month after that one charge. And it did its job to keep the cat away from the tree. I don't know how it would do outside, but indoors it is a champ! Changing to 5 stars.

This Gadget WORKS!!!
This AWESOME gadget works!!! It’s solar AND chargeable, which is what I needed for the shady location in front of my house. It charges in a few hours and lasts a minimum of 4 days. I don’t wait for THIS gadget to die before I charge it! For 2 years, I had trouble with cats and coyotes coming around the property to do their business. I have spent A LOT of time, effort, and money trying natural remedies and sonic devices (all of which worked for 3-4 days), to solve this odorous, irritating, expensive, and time consuming problem. This new gadget engages with motion detection. It uses flashing red lights, realistic sounds of gun shots and barking dogs to detour animals. It works like a charm!!! I bought a second one for another location on the property. I have checked every day for weeks, and there is zero evidence of animal activity: SUCCESS!!!

Loud, bright and works as described!
Works really well. It’s loud, and noisy but that’s what it’s supposed to be. Not so friendly for a townhouse or downtown.

Absolutely Awesome
I have a major problem with bears and bought three of these alarms to place in different sites on my property. Very easy to set up and really helpful to have a remote control. And the alarm in action - WOW. Really loud on the setting as it comes and I love that it continues for quite a long time, then when you think it is done it comes on again. And then there are the six flashing lights along with the audio. The bears hate it and their incursions are now virtually zero. I should also mention that the price makes these alarms a very inexpensive so overall I am more than delighted.
