5th letter
This book has such a great premise. The idea of the real truth coming out between such a close team of friends on holiday was great.I gave up the book once I got to the revelation of the 5th letter. It built up really well. The tension was good. How one friend retyped their letter in the same room as another friend lay pretending to sleep. But the letter and secret revealed was a massive let down.I was expecting life changing secrets instead it was something the girls probably already knew. Girls talk and will do so behind each other's backs. I was surprised to have this letter be the big all and be kept as such a high secret. If you're looking for cheating, affairs or juicy relationship scandals, this isn't the book for you. The book itself was well written although it wasn't completely capturing. I didn't understand why the main character was telling the story in confession. There wasn't a lot of religious aspects to the opening of the book. If any really. It was an okay read until this massive reveal which didn't live up to expectations.

It keeps you guessing
I love friendship novels, especially when the friendship has gone awry. That is the case with the four friends in Nicola Moriarty’s The Fifth Letter. Joni, Trina, Deb and Eden have all met up for their annual get together; the one time of year where they can all be together and rekindle their friendship. As everyone knows, sustaining a friendship as you get older can be difficult but these four are trying their hardest. When it is revealed that they all have dark secrets the girls begin to wonder if you can ever really truly know someone, even when that person is your best friend. The Fifth Letter is a truly gripping novel of the complexities of friendship and how sometimes things cannot be sustainable. It is creepy in parts and a genuine entertaining mystery. Just when you think you have it all figured out Nicola Moriarty pulls the rug from beneath your feet. The Fifth Letter by Nicola Moriarty is available now.

The Scorpio C's
Having felt really let down in the recent past by this genre of novel I was a little apprehensive going in to this one. After all, it had all the hallmarks of disappointment splattered all over it. Four women who have been friends since secondary school who are still grimly clutching on to that friendship well in to middle age and the secrets that they are harbouring from each other. Secrets that they are now set to reveal.Fortunately, I found this to be an engaging read. Not a challenging one and I didn't find myself trying to second guess who had written what and who was behind that explosive Fifth Letter. I just went along for the ride and enjoyed watching the stories of the four women unfold on the page.Joni is a fairly reliable narrator and although she has her faults (as Trina, Eden and Deb do) she is honest about her manipulations and mistakes. Quite why The Confessional looms so large is a bit confusing initially but even that gets tied up with a neat little bow at the end - a neat little bow that could possibly lead to a follow up on these four. You do get the feeling reading through that the friendships only endure out of nostalgia as they are such disparate personalities and are clearly growing further and further apart as they move through life. Even through the medium of open letters nobody tells the whole truth and still hold secrets close that eventually get displayed to the others - strangely, this seems to bring them closer than they have ever been. There are some surprises along the way and the nature of friendship is explored quite well. I especially enjoyed the way the women related to each other and how Joni and the elusive author give their view of whats happening - just a shame that we only really see Eden and Trina through their eyes. Completely unsentimental in it's telling I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Not as thrilling as I hoped.
I quite enjoyed the idea of this book which is why im giving it a 4 star rating. However i found the whole story got a bit boring towards the end and there was no omg moments which i was expecting at the beginning. Maybe it was meant to be addressed for younger people, although some of the scenes were a bit graphic for teens. Im not sure. It had good potential. I never really thought i could relate to any of the character's, considering they were best friends they were a bit cold towards each other even from the start... Was that the point?

Good read
Hmmm, I started reading this book and it was quite exciting. As you read along, it gets less and less exciting and predictable. Not sure what to think. I have finished it within few days so it's an easy read, if that's what you want.

EXCELLENT BOOK
This is the first book I have read by this author. I am used to reading crime murder mystery, so I have to say I found it a bit slow to begin with, but am I happy I stayed with it.It changes and turns and I found it hard to put down.A wonderful read

Boring and tedious
So long winded, thin plot, boring, hate to give up on a book, especially if I've paid for it, but 3/4 way through I really couldn't care less about the characters or their life's. Sorry, not for me, very disappointed.

Disappointed!
This book had potential! It just wasn't very good. I kept reading as I really wanted to know what happened. I didn't feel that any of the characters were that likeable & I realised that although I wanted to finish it (I read it over 2 days) it just wasn't a very good story. I love to read to be entertained, I was disappointed.
