The Very Best of the Ventures

"The Very Best Of The Ventures" is well worth getting - it has many of their best known hits, and for anyone not familiar with 'The Ventures', this is a great introduction to them! This album shows the great talent these guys have in playing their guitars, before everything got 'teched-out' by just pushing a few buttons to get whatever sound or effect one wants. These guys mastered it by as few effects and mostly by creatively doing it by hand effects on the guitar-strings! The best songs in my opinion on this CD album are: "Wipeout" (They do it the best), "Green Onions" (Excellent version), "Pipeline" (Another classic), and "Out Of Limits" (They do it the best). If your not sure which Venture alblum to get, and want a good introduction to them, get this album! Enjoy!

If you love instrumental rock guitar, especially the Ventures and are already familiar not only with their music but the rock instrumental era that they played in then you, like me, will love this album. Even though most of the songs, except most especially Walk Don't Run and Perfidia, you will enjoy the way the Ventures bring their own surf guitar sound to all the other selections. This is one of those albums that I never get tired of listening to. Enjoy!

Bottom-line is an excellent Best of recordings by Ventures.Highly recommend. Will admit, forgot they did NO voice music/singing.So is slightly similar song by song as some others mentioned LOL....Get it, will not be disappointed if enjoy 1960s beach music and Ventures...

I have always liked the Ventures. I never knew much about them, and I knew that much of their work was "covers" of other groups, but the always seemed to cover the very best and I would have to buy six or seven albums to get the tunes that could be found on one of their albums, and they really were excellent musicians. Often their version was better than the originals. I knew that when I played one of their albums, I was in for an hour of good music.

I had The Very Best of The Ventures cassette years ago and loved it. This one has all those tunes and much, much more. As others have said, this album is all The Ventures original tunes. The CD is so clear and sounds better than ever. I will have to get their Christmas album!Peace,

The Best Of The Best!!! They always have the perfect beat. I love getting in my 1969 SS 396 ElCamino and put there CD in and go on an adventure with the VENTURES Because of the big block rumble I have to play it loud, very loud and I love it. Lets Go!

The Ventures peak in their prime years can be found on "Walk Don't Run"...The Best Of". This release is filled with cover songs. The other one is their own songs. Don't be fooled by the artistic, great album cover. The band does do a respectable job on these songs but why go for it as a starting point, when the original versions can be found elsewhere? The record companies trick in the good old days was to capture a great wave or a beach photo with girls to market the album. It worked. I like this collection as a well recorded follow up CD, but there is a distinct difference between the two. I dropped this by one star because of deceiving title.

Liked the Ventures when I was young. Owned this one and a couple of other of their LPs but over the moves in the military were lost of damaged. Its great that they are out in CD. For the younger generation you might want to give a listen as they were a fantastic early rock and roll instrumental Band. In particular their rendition of "Wipe Out" has been copy so many times, its become legendary. Very well worth the price and a listen.

excellent compilation CD album from Ozy in early 1990's so sound quality only fair to good. all the big hit singles or fave album cuts used on Japan tours nowadays.a sort of pseudo-"20 golden greats" cd album. inc lets go.
