I remove the filter and attach, 13mm ID x 16mm OD flexible hose, purchased from Amazon (the one supplied is too rigid) This set up works perfectly for me, I only have 2 small fish tanks so I use the ProVac to remove water and filter the substrate straight into a bowl. I cannot use the 'syphoning' system because of where my tanks are.

Great length lead, nice light feature, pretty easy to use. I also use this for syphoning out water for changes, the hose adapter is good. As a new fish owner, I use this to vac the sand substrate. It does take getting used to, but is the easiest I've found so far. Negatives, I think the filter holder could be a tighter fit, as there is some leakage from the ends (Fluval, maybe some rubber strips would solve this, either on the holder or the actual filters?) The one I got didn't show whether you had it on high or low setting, so was often guess work here. And you have to switch through each setting to get it off. I would prefere an on/off switch, and maybe a wheel or seperate button to change power?

I was a bit apprehensive about purchasing this as I had bought a similar one from an unknown brand some time ago, that was a lot cheaper and was massively disappointed with the suction power and filtering capabilities as it still spat out a load of dirt back into the tank no matter how often I was cleaning the filters. But with not finding anything else that looked like it was up to the job, not wanting to revert to more often water changes/cleaning and also as I have bought many other products from this brand and not had any issues I thought I would give it a go even though I thought it was a bit pricey. I am happy to say that it's been a breath of fresh air (or water!). The suction power on this is great and the filter catches all the dirt in the water/gravel and just leaves clean water pumped out into the tank. You do have to clean the filters regularly but that just means it's getting plenty of dirt out of the water and only leaving the good stuff behind. The LED light wasn't really a selling point for me but has been good in allowing you to see more easily where you are picking things up when it starts to get a bit murky and the large head makes it quicker and easier to get the job done. I haven't used it to replace any water yet but it looks simple enough to do, i.e. remove the filter container and attach a hose pipe to the outgoing pipe instead of pumping the water into a bucket or container. If you have reservations about this due to the price I would recommend giving it a go as I have been pleasantly surprised and your Fish will thank you. I could swear I have seen my fish smiling more often since using this!

I like Fluval as a brand but have to say that I am disappointed by the suction performance of this and the fact that the filter gets so dirty so quickly. It is one of the most expensive on the market but is unable to suck up fish waste on either setting unless if is really small amounts (my swordtails leave poops that can be over an inch long - no chance of them being picked up) and even small amounts get stuck on the dome filter (the one that prevents fish from being sucked up) and then fall back into the water when the pump is turned off - I have all but given up with this and gone back to a manual siphon instead but that means I need to do water changes rather than just being able to clean the gravel. Shame really as it could have been so good - I like the dual depth capability and ease of use but neither of those help if it doesn't manage to actually do what you buy it for :( In summary: Expensive? Check. Well made? Check. Easy to use? Check. Effective? Not really.

Very quiet. Great bit of kit. I've had about 6 of the manual battery operated cleaners and all have eventually failed and just dont have the power. This Vac has everything, quick set up, two power settings, easy to clean. Quick efficient and well worth the higher cost, it looks like its built to last but only time will tell. Very happy with this

The Pro vac is overpriced feels cheap when using and not sturdy. The power button is of poor quality and takes multiple presses to get it to work. Filter constantly clogs and stops the flow. The noise inside the tank terrified my fish. I have a 10 inch long flag tail that the leapt from the tank as soon as I switched it on. There was hardly any suction at all and totally inefficient in the task that it is supposed to achieve very disappointed as normally every Fluval product I have brought has been excellent and great quality. I shall be returning the Pro vac along with the extra filters I purchased which were again overpriced for what they are very disappointed. Fluval you can do better than this! I would not have given this product any stars but the way Amazon works I had to give it one star to submit my review.

Just got this and tested it out so can't comment on the longevity of it but seems well made so I expect it should last a long time. It's very good, cleans dirt from substrate easily and also picks up poop, uneaten food from rocks, wood easily. The suction is great, you obviously don't want it too powerful like a Henry hoover, it's perfect for cleaning an aquarium and I can tell this will make the maintenance so much easier not having to do water changes every time I want to clean the gravel. Saves poop, food hanging around in the tank between water changes. I will happily use this every few days just to get these out of the tank. My gravel is large enough so it doesn't get past the filter even though my gravel is quite fine. But, if you have very very fine gravel or sand this may suck it up. Overall, very impressed so far and it will keep my aquarium clean at all times.

Die Saugleistung scheint höher als beim Konkurrenz Produkt, da hier entgegen dem >Fluval Pro Vac, elektrischer Bodengrundreiniger < eine Ansaughilfe durch Magnetantrieb auf einem Kunststoffdorn nur am Anfang gut funktioniert, aber schon nach wenigen Gebräuchen und durch eintretende Sandkristalle auf diesem Dorn schleift. Dadurch immer weniger oder erschwerte Drehungen der Ansaughilfe möglich werden. Bei dem hier zu betrachtenden >>Fluval Pro Vac, elektrischer Bodengrundreiniger<< ist das zwar ähnlich, aber besser gelöst. Hier sitzt die Ansaughilfe (Schraube) auf einer Achse. Es sind zwei Geschwindigkeiten möglich, da der Strom zum Antrieb eben nicht aus Batterien, sondern aus einem mitgelieferten Steckernetzteil, verbunden über ein ausreichend langes Kabel das Gerät mit ausreichend, und wichtiger noch, immer gleicher Energie versorgt. Unheimlich praktisch, Arbeits- und Kräfte sparend. Allerdings, der Stutzen ist meiner Meinung nicht lang genug, ein etwas steiferer Schlauch – wie der vom mit genutzte Gartenschlauch – rutscht dadurch schnell ab. Hier habe ich mir einen neuen Stutzen auf meinem 3D Drucker konstruiert und ausgedruckt. Diese Möglichkeit der direkten Entfernung über einen Schlauch bietet der Konkurrent nicht. Fazit: Ein sehr nützlicher Absauger, der auf jeden Fall seinen Dienst tut, der genügend Wasser ansaugt, das man damit ein kleineres Aquarium auch entleeren könnte. Durch die Schlauchaufsteck-Methode spart er das lästige Eimer schleppen, hat man einen entsprechend langen Schlauch der direkt entsorgen lässt. Auf jeden Fall empfehle ich nach mehrmaligen Gebrauch diesen Fluval Pro Vac, elektrischer Bodengrundreiniger zum Erwerb für jeden Aquerienfreund.
