Large Micro SD Cards slow Boot - max size 23gb - good for podcasting
Overall for the price point its good. I almost went with 4 stars, but its working excellent and a lot better than an old school micro-cassette recorder of the past. Price point is very attractive. LOL.... The user interface is very dated, but works. And lets face it if you are using a voice recorder like this you might want this old school interface. They could still clean up the old interface better and make it easier to use, but it works. The manual is of no help. If you use a microSD card, the max supported size is 32gb, which believe it or not are getting harder to find. The biggest issue is that with a 32gb brand name card boot times are like 20 seconds. 20 seconds before you can hit the record button and get the idea out of your head. I found a 8gb brand name card and that boot time is 8.4 seconds. Better. But if you use the internal storage the boot time is only 4 seconds.... 8 gig is plenty of storage, but I still don't like waiting that extra 4 seconds.... Audio quality off the built in mics is surprisingly good as is using an even better external mic. I think you could get good enough podcast quality in mp3 128 stereo mode using an external mic. Which means you wouldn't need to go to a wireless mic solution for audio and these are super cheap to have multiple units recording, lets say two or three people with each person on their own recorder and mic wired up to them. The built in mics would not be quite good enough IMHO for a podcast, but you can get it out of an external mic. (see my hold notes below) Duping from a cell phone to the unit works and they have a mode for it. However if you have high quality coming out of your cellphone into this unit (music) its not very good once recorded. I'm speculating some sort of DRM or A/D converter issue. But if you had a conversation from a cassette tape to this, that works excellent. Battery life is excellent. Manual stinks. Lots of trial and error.. Here is a useful feature: If you start a recording and use the power off switch, thats also a hold feature, witch makes it so that you can't accidentally press any buttons and interfere with the recording. That's a great feature that isn't documented, but if you were putting this recorder on someone in their pocket with a mic, then you would do this so that it doesn't accidentally stop recording.

Excellent Recorder With Advanced Features That Require Time To Learn
Highly recommend this recorder with the stipulation that you have to be willing to read a big instruction booklet to learn the great features. It seems to be able to do anything if you learn the various features. You can also more quickly learn the very basic operations if you’re not ambitious about learning it all.

Nice recorder for audio interviews
This is a good recorder for professional purposes. It has stereo recording, which you need for recording in large rooms. you can see that the recording is on while you are working, which is a big plus, as well as seeing battery life. It has a USB stick for plug in. The downside of USB sticks is that they break in a few years. I knocked off one star for not having rechargeable via USB. Given that the prices of recorders have gone up, this looks like the best affordable option.

No Back-Light; doesn't support larger Micro SD Cards; only 4GB of Internal Storage; Support; Terms
While I don't wish to be unkind, it does not suit my needs. It's very small/compact and may be perfect for some users. It's not a bad recorder; but it only has 4GB internal storage. It will see my Samsung EVO Select 128GB Micro SD Flash Card; however, gives error message "This Card cannot be supported." It has NO Back-Light! It is so tiny; I can't see the screen even in good lighting; and the screen reflects external lighting like a mirror. Thank God I bought an LED illuminated Magnifying Glass; but even that is very awkward to use and requires both hands. It has a male USB-A port which ejects and can plug directly into the side of a Laptop or an external USB hub; however, this makes viewing the screen impossible. Also, there is no software to control the device when using the USB; only your Laptop's file explorer maps internal and SD Card storage to drive letters; and USB is only 2.0; which is okay given the small amount of storage. I went to XPXPXP Plus the Web Site is terrible (Tiny Fonts with Overlapping details); and Product Registration is a pain AND rejected mine after filling out all field. It gave "Error 442 - The changes you requested were rejected!". AND I would NEVER purchase any product from OM SYSTEM based upon their "Terms of Use" I hope this really helps someone! Charlie
