What types of radiation are measured? Alpha? Beta? Gamma?

Thank you for your question. The device is able to detect ionizing radiation and store the readings up to 3 years for Beta, Gamma and X-Ray Radiation. If there is an Alpha radiation source in the object there will be Beta or Gamma decoys which the device will successfully detect. The radiation coming from the Fukushima is Beta and Gamma.

Are the these really made in Russia?

How to measure specific dose? I work with X Ray machines at the airport and I want to check the internal dose of the machines, how do I measure it?

The detector will show you the cumulative dose and you will be able to see how much radiation was absorbed during the specific time period. In order to measure the dose a radiation dosimeter has to be present. However, if an object absorbed a significant amount of radiation and became "radioactive", meaning the radiation is coming from the object, the SOEKS detector will be able to pick it up simply by getting the detector close enough to the object you'd like to measure. The other option is to measure a radiation background away and near the object, subtract two numbers - the difference is how much radiation the object emits.

I wouldnt buy another one !

I have a collection of counters, including a scintillator and the gamma scout and I can say hand on hart, this is slow, the 2 tubes don't really increase accuracy but give you bloated over the top results.You need to calibrate it and the software allows you to do so, but for that you need a exact source and another Geiger..Pros: Once calibrated it does the job, it looks nice, its very light, great software, nice little gadget.Cons: Quite slow considering that its advertised to be super fast.. the battery doesn't last very long even with sound of and lighting at minimum, needs calibrating otherwise you will get background readings twice the normal rate, I used 0.84 for calibration as it came with 1.6.Overall its not bad but the price doesn't justify what you get.I advice people that just one something basic and very accurate and very fast to try any of the radex one or Radex rd1503 products that Amazon sells, they are around half the price of this one and are great !!!
