"A,B & C" of the Add-on Sets
My journey with these special wc-type brush pens continues, now with the 30 additional colors in "Set A". This collection leans heavily towards the earthy, smokey greens, yellow-greens and a large percentage of earthy, grayish plums, with just a couple each of earthy blues, browns and peachy pinks. All beautiful, unique colors but just be aware that this is not, imho, a 'starter' set of colors; it's a unique add-on set which I am adding onto the 90-color collection. All of the 30-color sets (A, B & C) colors are light, dark, cool and warm variations of the already extensive color collection in the 90 colors set, divided into themes... Set A is basically dark, mostly earthy grey-greens, greyish plums and greenish-greys. There are also a few earthy reds and pinks, even a couple grayed blues. Set B is every color blue and green you can imagine, for landscape and marine themed creations... Set C is the newest, warmer colors, mostly warm yellows, reds, oranges and some browns and pinks. There are also 3 more dark violet/plum colors. For me personally, these are all over-kill, but I am addicted and in-love with such a wide selection of color tones for my art pieces. When I finally add the last set, it will be 180 -pens! (Truth be told, with so many nuances there a few colors that appear the same as others... only a few, though. If it becomes too many, that is when I'll stop for good!!) I agree with other reviewers that these pens are unique and require a slight, but very fun, learning curve to use them properly, and that a waterbrush and good quality wc paper are crucial. I also think that because it can get pricey, and confusing if buying a large collection, repeat colors are a drag. So it is essential to keep a log of both color numbers & names as well as a swab book/sheets for easy painting reference and to compare against sets you might be considering in the future.. The Kuretake Store page on Amazon has a great (but kinda hard to find) reference chart showing an at-a-glance view of how the different sets are built and by which add-on sets. Just scroll all the way to the bottom of the Clean Color Real Brush page by clicking on it on the homepage... You are gonna love them all, I hope! Happy Painting!!!

Beautiful colors, quality marker
Love this new addition of warm colors. Perfect for summer and autumn scenes. ZIG real brush markers are quality and perform well. Good pigment and are never dry. Blend well with or without the addition of water. Should store these in a horizontal position. Very hard to find a storage case for them though. The plastic box they come in is not suitable for storage and I threw it away. One is buying the markers however, and not the box. Hard to fit them in a storage case due to the thick plastic caps. Still auditioning pencil/marker cases and will update this review if I find one that works! Recommend ZIGs as a quality brush pen worth the investment. I have the 60-set, and 3 of the 30-sets (sets A. B, and C). All are beautiful and worth having! I hope they issue a set D!! You won't regret investing in the ZIGs!

Why didn't anybody tell me about watercolor markers sooner?
These markers are an absolute delight to use. The tips are bristled like little fine tipped paint brushes, and the ink reacts exactly like watercolor paint. As someone who is accustomed to alcohol and acrylic markers, these definitely have a little bit of a learning curve. They do tend to bleed a bit, but the benefit to that is that they blend seamlessly. I am no artist, I won't pretend to understand color theory, what I am is a stressed out adult who loves the cathartic experience of sitting down with a cup of tea, a coloring book, and some good markers. These do the trick. Coloring in beautiful sunsets is so easy and satisfying. It's like working with easily controlled watercolors. They are water based though, which means they leech through paper like nobody's business, so you definitely want to keep a pencil board or a thick piece of paper underneath the one you're working on.

Big Wow for the Set of 30
There isn't a color in this set I wouldn't purchase singly. They're, what I'd call, tertiary colors and they're lovely. More subdued thank a primary or secondary but, by no means, are they muted. Though if you preferred muted, you could certainly mix a neutral (four grays are included) into any color to mute it. Or mixing a complimentary would also mute them. I'm going to have to get the hang of how to use them since they're a brush and not like a traditional marker. However, They blend beautifully with water. And the price is terrific. Better than my favorite discounted online art store. I especially love that there are several greens, fewer blues, and very light on yellow hues which are often over-represented in sets. I purchased a different brand of watercolor markers, very recently - a set of 30 - and there were five varying shades of yellow. A sixth of the set. A+, Kuretake! I also received them even earlier than expected. I'm a Prime member so stuff comes quickly - these guys came overnight. ๐๐ป

Game changer
I absolutely love these watercolor brush pens. They have the finest tip I've ever worked with. My work is very detailed and these make coloring in a joy. With the write cardstock/paper they blend very nicely but you must work quickly in small areas. If you let it dry it is a little more difficult to blend. Color range is fantastic. If I'd known I probably would have bought the entire set. Instead I now have purchased 3 sets of various colors.

Great colors
These are a great addition to your watercolor supplies. I love the colors and the mixing capability on paper. A lot of fun with unique different colors than I have in my palette. They are great for laying down color and doodling over it.

A favourite pen
Last month I found a Kuretake Scroll and brush from the early eighties behind a cupboard. It must be about 40 years old - I tried thinking it may be good for special effects . To my astonishment, it worked , perfectly! After 65 years of pens drying out and failing , what a pleasure . I immediately purchased the Inktober sets and love the real brush for painting while travelling. The colours are earthy and subtle perfect for my world view . I cannot wait to explore these excellent brush/ pens further; thank- you Kuresake
