Works well.
Reduced heat going into my engine bay and my back trunk. Adhesive could be better, but the material is sufficient. One roll is enough for an engine and trunk of a honda civic. If you have a bigger vehicle, you'll need two. Cheap price and works. Good value and simple to install.

Seems to work very well. Used on VW engine cover.
The original foam noise insulation mat on my 13 VW Touareg engine cover had turned dry and crumbly after almost 11 years. Several chunks were falling and tearing off. I wanted a new one. But they are NOT sold by Volkswagen, only the entire engine cover $$$. This sound mat works great. It was not hard to work with. I cleaned the engine cover, measuring the old foam insulator first and making a cardboard template. Then with a scraper and acetone, I removed the old insulation foam, and followed up with sandpaper and acetone. I cut the new insulation with a utility knife on a breadboard, and did small trim with industrial scissors. In about an hour, I had a new foam insulator, and it works. Engine noise is a little bit better than before, and it has held up to engine heat.

Sticks well, except on plastic parts
It holds well on metal parts of the car, but not on plastic parts. I had to spray extra glue. The sound insulation works well, I hope it is fireproof indeed...

Great for older cars
I use this stuff on all my older cars, sometimes on top of the kill mat style stuff. Great quality. Just make sure the surfaces are cleanish and it sticks great. Soft and squishy, nice non-organic replacement for some of the other stinky horse hair insulation.

Honestly, it's a perfectly good mat. Plus, it's rated for high heat
Originally I tried to measure and get the perfect sized mat for my hood, but I ignored the fact that you can cut this with just normal scissors. It's not fiberglass. It's perfectly good quality. In ended up cutting it into squares anyway just to be a little easier to apply. I'm sure you could un-stick it if you needed, but it's not intended to be stuck and unstuck multiple times. This might not work with all cars, but I was able to put this under the factor hood deadener. I just had to poke holes for the clips and push to get them to click in. This wasn't an issue for me, but it shows the product being rolled. Mine actually came folded up. The creases aren't a big deal, but I suppose it might be a problem for some folks. Honestly, it's a perfectly good mat. Plus, it's rated for high heat so I don't have to worry about it melting like butyl.

Stick it up to keep the noise down!
I needed to replace the failing fiberglass insulation that was original in my 1996 motorhome. The original insulation was providing some sound/heat protection inside of my generator cabinet but it was falling apart. After cleaning off the failing insulation and adhesive, this new insulation seemed to stick well to the interior cabinet walls. I could easily cut this insulation with my scissors but it does make the backing paper try to shred at the cut edges instead of peeling off in one motion. Just being careful I could ensure that all of the protection paper came off to allow full adhesion to the metal walls. It was fairly easy to attach and turn corners. NOTE: this item could probably be stretched to the advertised 40" x 40" but I wanted to install it in its relaxed size of 38" x 38". I had plenty to cover the inside of generator cabinet fully. It did reduce the noise some from my generator. I guess I could also install more of this insulation on the outer walls of the generator quieting down even more of the noise inside my motorhome. So far it is sticking well but if things change I will edit my review of this product.

Size is mis-leading
Description is incorrect. Size is 37" x 37". I purchased one of these based ont he 40"x40" size specification but its actually only 37" square and I need more.
