Commercial quality, non-MOV based protection
In my past life in commercial A/V, we sold two primary options for surge suppression - SurgeX, and Furman. The MOV-based Furmans would come back after thunderstorms; the SurgeX units are still likely out there, and will continue to be until the system is replaced. When I was looking for a surge protector for my office headphone setup, there really wasn't much of a choice, I knew I was going SurgeX. I like the SA-82 for its removable IEC cord, but it's hard to go wrong with any of their models.

Great lightning protection. Very fast response.
Moved into a place with only 2 wire electrical wiring, and wanted reasonable protection because this area is seasonally lighting prone. Works perfect. During lightning storms the TV doesn't even flicker now, so I don't need to go unplug everything. Works 100% as advertised! Awesome product .

No Manual is included. ZERO problems with downstream electronics since installing.
No Manual is included. Yes, you can download the manual, but one included is always better. ZERO problems with downstream electronics since installing. Unlike cheaper surge suppressors, this surge eliminator does not use sacrificial parts. If you have expensive or critical electronics to protect, this is the way to go.

Great surge protection
If you really want to protect your electronic equipment from surges, this is the only way to go. This is a high quality surge eliminator. I think about like this: if i'm willing to spend money on a large screen tv, why would I scrimp on protecting it?

Totally invincible fortress for your expensive electronics
I originally bought one of these reading a review of series-mode protection on GCN (A government computer technology site). I was a bit disturbed after seeing several surge protectors pop internally and wanted something I wouldn't have to replace again. Well, I found it. Not only do these things keep everything humming along perfectly during electrical storms and washer/dryer start-ups (these things cause more surges in your house than outside influences), but they also include over-voltage shutdown- other surge protectors are praised for destroying themselves in prolonged overvoltage situations ( IF they end up saving your equipment in the process. They don't always end up doing do. ) These will simply cut off power until things return to normal. It is built like a truck and obviously made to last. After a few months with this in front my LCD TV and *prized* video game console collection, I ended up buying another one to protect my computer/network equipment. This particular model is intended for flat panel TVs, but its size makes it great to hide anywhere. Mounting brackets are an additional plus. One more thing- I've seen some "experts" on pro AV forums talking about MOV-based protection being more than adequate. I happen to work at a university that uses thousands of off-the-shelf MOV-based protectors, and I have a pile of them with blown MOVs sitting at my feet as I speak. I show them to people right before I show them these little guys. These "experts" also lost all credibility when they suggested that every (including this type) power protection device revolves around a good ground shunt. No series mode unit relies on shunting the power to ground at all.

It works!
This is legit surge protection. Not those cheap power strips that claim to have surge protection. I had my $1000 sound bar plugged into one of those and a surge fried the electronics. Got the sound bar motherboard replaced, got this SA-82 to protect it, and I haven't had any issues since. (It's been 2 years).

Quality surge protection in a compact device.
I have my 70" Sony TV wall mounted, and this fits just fine and out of sight behind my TV. It has included brackets which you affix to the surge protector to enable you to mount this to the wall. I have it plugged into a electrical outlet behind the TV. I connect my TV and sound bar to the surge protector. I only wish it had four plugs instead of two.

Great Surge Elimator
I mounted this in the doghouse of my sound console. This way I don't need extension cables to the stage to plug in to that power distro rack.

Top grade make and performance. I'd buy another if offered at same price.
