I’ve been using Bach Flower Essences for more than 20 years. I started with Bach’s Rescue Remedy and branched out to their individual flower essences for different needs. They’ve helped me and my pets many times over the years. I was intrigued to try the new nonalcohol formula and ordered Mustard, which is for “be joyful,” perfect to counteract the last gray days of winter. The first thing I noticed is that the bottle is smaller than the original-formula bottles. The nonalcohol version is 0.35 fl oz versus 0.7 fl oz. for the alcohol version. The amount to consume is the same for both formulas: 2 drops on the tongue or added to a beverage. They both are priced about the same, so the alcohol formula is the better deal because you get more servings. Glycerin is a sugar alcohol commonly used in skin care and generally accepted as safe to consume. It is sweet and syrupy. I am not a fan of the overly sweet syrupy taste. The glycerin formula appears to be effective for me. It’s hard to say for sure because things are going well for me right now, so I’m naturally more joyful. I do think I feel a difference though. I do not drink alcoholic beverages. I have some autoimmune health issues, so I choose not to drink alcohol. That said, I much prefer Bach’s traditional alcohol formulas. I feel the effects of them clearly, and I don’t have any doubts. The amount of alcohol in a 2-drop serving of the traditional Bach formula is negligible and not a problem for me. If someone wants to avoid alcohol altogether, than the nonalcohol formula is the solution. If one does not care about alcohol content, then I recommend the alcohol version.

I appreciate Bach’s good name & safe ingredients. The taste is sweet & nice (no worries to the uninitiated, it doesn't taste at all like mustard), not overpowering. I've added Mustard for Joy to my morning routine (alongside other Bach remedies) & it does seem to make me feel more joyful. I’m always looking forward to trying new Bach formulas & this did not disappoint. I very much recommend this to anyone who’s curious.
