Very nice for the price. Pieces are better made and looking than expected. Very portable, but not magnetic which it doesn't claim to be. All the pieces fit nicely inside the board which you can just fold up a store easily.

Quality of the board feels a little meh- like leaning on to cheap but sturdy, the locks aren’t solid enough to keep still but they do the job of keeping the case closed. The pieces ,however, I for one can say they feel hefty, the magenta aren’t that great but they keep the pieces still- that I will say. Th best thing I can say is, if you treat it with respect and care it should last a while- I’ll write another review on this board a year from now- quote me, letting y’all know how it’s holding up. The foam where the pieces are store is kinda eh, but it’s a tight fit so the pieces won’t be falling off any time soon and that’s important. Personally, don’t let anyone damage anything you like or buy… this should be common knowledge. The quality of the design of each piece is quite admirable and I do think it’s my best chess set I’ve bought so far. 8 out of 10 In my opinion

This set arrived promptly and in excellent condition. I was a little amused by the rattle that I heard in the box as I was unpacking it because most of the pieces had been dislodged from their tight, molded holders in the underside of the board. The box must have been given a serious shaking. I so captured by the beauty of the set that I had to play a game right away. Even though the material of the pieces is acrylic, they feel like metal and are finely finished. The two-tone construction of the large pieces is stunning, and the board has been finely crafted. All the pieces have a weight that keeps them from being easily knocked over during play. The two things that I miss in this set are the lack of numbers and letters along the outer edges that comply with standard chess notation and the lack of true black for the black pieces. They are of a deep maroon color and probably could have been made with black acrylic. Nevertheless I am very pleased with this set. It makes playing chess a real pleasure.

Bought as a gift for my son. He’s always wanting to teach me chess and loves to play. This is a very nice set, magnet strength could be strong as I didn’t notice anything magnetic about it. But it is a very nice set, price was right, very pretty. My son liked it a lot.

The set is beautiful but a few of the pieces were scuffed on God knows what. The box has a sticker of the seller requesting a direct message but Amazon refuses to let me through to them. It only prompts a full replacement. I don’t want a full replacement just to possibly receive more damaged pieces. My husband thinks it’s not worth it to go through the process of replacing when I was really looking forward to this board. I’ll keep it. It’s still really beautiful otherwise. Just a little sad at the damage. Edit: After some more stewing, I decided to send it back for a replacement anyway. The replacement is supposed to get here in a couple days so I guess we’ll see if I get it without damage. Edit #2: Just got the new one! Now this is what I was expecting. I love it so much. It’s gorgeous. 4/5 stars because of the first one being damaged.

My son surprised me with dad can we play chess. The old cheep set we had for years wasn't special. So I bought this set for him to have as his first set to own. His smile opening his new set will last with me forever. Looking foward to playing this well crafted set. Mom gets the first match with him.

After returning a similarly priced chess set that was shoddy at best, we were pleasantly suprized at the high quality of this set. The board itself is solid and finished with wood veneer and quality latches. The chess pieces are smooth, elegant and well-weighted. The high density foam to hold the pieces is of high quality. The only quibbles are that the board is missing the notation, and it would have been nice to have the extra queens. Still, highly recommended.

Well built chess pieces that have great weight and the leather on the bottom gives the pieces slip resistant. The foam locks the pieces in tight and fully secures them when the board is closed.
