Nice compact meter
Great tester to be able to test electric brake connection on your tow vehicle. It has a long enough cable to check the operation without having to have a companion to help you.

Great (albeit expensive) tool for trailer brakes/wiring analysis
I own a 2022 GMC 3500 with seven PIN in the bed for towing a fifth wheel. If you're reading this you too may have a GMC and are chasing the dreaded "Check Trailer Wiring" message that comes along when your brakes in the trailer stop working. Question we've all had to ask: is it the truck, the wiring in between, or trailer batteries, generator, or solar? For me, this was invaluable for determining whether the fault was the truck brake controller or truck wiring. I wasn't crazy about spending $200 for this, but I reasoned that solving the problem would cost me a whole lot more without facts (not including liability cost if my brakes failed in route). This tool simulates a load of a trailer, tells you whether lights, signals, and brake lights are working as needed, and whether the brake controller is sending instructions as expected, when (is there latency), and brake force (either with the brake pedal or the brake controller). I went to this tool because lights on the end of a male plug wouldn't fire (no load was seen by the truck computer). What was really handy is I could test in Park and when driving down the road (while keeping my eyes on the road also). BTW, the GMC dealer uses a tool just like this for the same purpose. Problem is you need to pay them by the hour to do the analysis.

Saved our trip.
We were two weeks into a seven week trip and started having “Trailer Disconnected” messages on our 2019 F250. Research and troubleshooting was inconclusive, but indicated possible trouble with truck harness. I ordered this brake force meter along with a new trailer pigtail and contact cleaner and had them shipped to our campground. The meter arrived quickly, and was easy to set up. Within 10 minutes of unboxing, I was able to verify the truck was working fine, issue was definitely the trailer. That alone was worth every penny. I eventually found a plug on the trailer ABS had worked loose, secured it and all was good. Definitely saved us from trying to find a mobile RV tech or a trip to a shop to check out the truck. Either of those would have cost more than the meter.

Easy to use
Great tool for checking your truck side of brake system. If you own a GM you might want this tool.

Works, but requires an adapter for my 2024 BMW X3
I have a 2024 X3 M40I, which has the factory tow package wiring included. I added an aftermarket hitch (StealthHitch which had direct plug-and-play installation to the factory wiring harness) and wanted a way to test out the 7-way plug. Initially I purchased an inexpensive LED 7-way tester - but that only showed that 12V power was coming through, and nothing else would illuminate as I cycled through turn signals, reverse, etc. Apparently the issue is that some vehicles look for a small electrical load in order to detect/send signal to the trailer lights, and most 7-way testers don’t supply the necessary resistance to facilitate testing. After some research, I came across the “IPA #9107B Electric Brake Force Meter”, mentioned to be a solution for testing the 7-way plug for newer German vehicles like Audi and BMW. I followed the instructions, but nothing illuminated at all (not even the 12V power). I was about to return it when I read a review stating that the “TOW READY 20142 7-Way Flat Pin to 7-Flat Plug to Plug Adapter” would provide the electrical resistance necessary for the vehicle to sense the trailer brake lights (or the testing apparatus, in this case). I plugged in the adapter, then plugged the inexpensive 7-way LED tester - and voila… everything works. Then I removed the inexpensive LED 7-way tester and plugged the “IPA Brake Force Meter” into the “TOW READY” adapter, and it also worked perfectly. I’m going to keep the “IPA Brake Force Meter” because the ultra long cable allows me to test from the drivers seat (versus crawling under the vehicle, using a mirror, or doing a video recording of the inexpensive LED 7-way tester). All in all - I wish I didn’t need an adapter to make this work, but I’m glad that I eventually found a solution.

Saves time and money testing the truck
This works great for testing not only the lights but the electrical trailer brake as well. Makes it a quick and easy one person job.

Great tool
Works great. Much more comprehensive than the plug in LED indicators we're all familiar with. I needed it to troubleshoot a wiring issue due to corroded wires from the previous owners half baked "repair". Not something I'm going to need often, but invaluable when I do.
