Shaver Series 5000 - Wet & Dry Mens Electric Shaver with SkinIQ Technology, Pop-up Trimmer, Travel Case, Quick Clean Pod and Quick Clean Cartridge (Model S5898/50)

I purchased this whilst it was on offer to replace my old 3000 series razor. It's amazing, and the cleaning fluid makes such a difference. The only annoyance is that the razor on the back of the device needs to be held in place whilst using it which can be awkward for shaving your underarms, but my old one didn't have one. It's smooth, cuts well, is east to clean and having a USB charger makes sense.

Having got fed up of trimming a 1MM beard every day I decided to take the plunge and just shave every day. I have to say that I am very happy with my shaver. Its feels good to hold, shaves to a baby smooth finish and isn't too noisy. I love the self cleaning system too which is great. Very happy with it indeed.

Hey from Ireland :) First day today using it - charged it and put shaving foam all over face (you don’t have to) I just wanted to see what it would be able to achieve - zero pulling, zero worry about cutting myself , honestly it’s a 10/10 from me. Picture attached is first go shaving after full 5 days with zero shave so it done an excellent job, online they say it can take 2 weeks to get used to it and your skin adapt but it’s pretty easy to use and I am delighted. I’m not going to use the cleaning pod every time instead I’ll just rinse it and use the pod once a week or so again as you can wash it under the tap that’s fantastic and the amount of money I’ll save on both buying disposable razors and instead just use this.

Purchased one of these as I love the cleaner of which my Braun has got too & this was a good buy I only use it as a dry shave as cannot see the point in lathering up my face when I can use a wet blade. The only thing that was missing was a charging stand of which I purchased on eBay for £6

Easy to carry around in the motorhome. Provides a reasonably clean shave from a couple of days growth but can snatch at hairs that are a few days old. Not that easy to get into the tiniest spaces such as under tight under the nose as the plastic guides around the blades are just a tad too large. USB charging is great (needs the supplied lead as a Phillips fitting into the shaver rather than USB C), when no mains power available. Use the cleaner system to prolong blade life and improves shave quality.

Slow, wet shave is quicker. You need another solution to get at the hairs around nostrils. Disappointed.

Dobra golarka, do mojego zarostu lepszej nie trzeba, goli dłuższy zarost i brodę, dlatego wybrałem rotacyjną, a nie foliową. Stacja czyszcząca służy jako stojak, uruchamiam raz w tygodniu i wystarczy. Możliwość wymiany nakładki np na trymer do nosa i brwi czy regulowane ostrze do przycinania brody czy włosów (do kupienia).

Meine Bewertung: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ In Kurz: Ein super Rasierer, der schnell seine Arbeit verrichtet und dabei leise und hautschonend läuft. Besser als der Braun Series 5 und ein echtes Upgrade vom Philips 3000! Gekauft um meinen alten Philips 3000 zu ersetzen und anstelle der Braun 5er Serie gekauft. (Vergleich unten) Preis-Leistung: Am Black Friday für unter 100€ (Nov 2023) gekauft und seitdem sehr zufrieden! Man bekommt einen klasse Rasierer mit Hülle, Ladestation und Reinigungsgel und alles ist hochwertig verarbeitet. Für ein Gerät, was ich mehrmals die Woche nutze, ist es ein super Preis. Lautstärke: Leise und angenehm. Klar, man hört ihn, wenn man im selben Raum steht aber anders als der Braun hört sich der Philips zumindest nicht wie ein startende Boeing an. Ergonomie & Hautgefühl: Gutes Handling und angenehm auf der Haut. Sowohl der 3-Tagebart, als auch 5 (oder gar 7) kann man ohne unangenehmes Ziepen rasieren. Habe bisher auch keinen Rasierbrand mehr gehabt, der mich an meinem alten 3000er gestört hat. Ein sehr angenehmes Upgrade. Akkulaufzeit: Ausgepackt und losgelegt auch ohne vorheriges Laden. Wenn er dann mal leer ist (dauert definitiv bis das der Fall ist), lädt er fix wieder auf. Ich mache das über Nacht deswegen habe ich nicht auf die genaue Ladezeit geachtet. Was mir nicht gefällt: Die eckigen Scherköpfe sind leider zu groß und machen es schwierig im Nasenbereich 100% akkurat zu arbeiten. Klar, man gewöhnt sich daran aber ein rundes Design wie beim 3000er oder alten 9000er wäre deutlich besser. Auch ein USB-C Anschluss wäre besser als die A Anschlüsse hier dran. Vergleich mit anderen Modellen: Bei der Wahl des richtigen Rasierers kommen die meisten wohl auf die Frage: Philips oder Braun? Die Wahl stand zwischen: - Braun 5er Serie - Philips 7000 - Philips 9000 und diesem hier. Die Wahl fiel auf den Philips 5000, weil ich die kreisende Rasierbewegung einfach praktischer finde als beim Braun und ich denke dieser hier hat von den Philips das beste Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Die Rasierfläche ist die gleiche wie beim 7000 und erst der 9000 würde für fast den dreifachen(!) Preis eine Veränderung bringen. Ja, beim 9000er ist es ein bisschen praktischer, dass die Scherblätter näher am Rand sind, aber möchte ich deswegen knapp 300€ ausgeben? Nein danke. Auch eine App wie bei den teureren Modellen brauche ich nicht für meine Rasur. Im Gegensatz zum 3000er sieht dieser hier deutlich besser aus, läuft ein Stück leiser, hat eine bessere Akkuanzeige und kommt mit einer Reinigungsstation. Wie schon gesagt ist auch das Gefühl auf der Haut echt viel besser! Definitiv die 50€ Aufpreis wert. Fazit: Ganz klare Kaufempfehlung! Das beste Preis-Leistungsverhältnis aller Philips Rasierer und eine super hautschonende Rasur. Top!

Discret, silencieux, ergonomique, facile à entretenir et surtout souple et doux à l'usage, ce rasoir réalise vraiment bien son travail. Le rasage est net, impeccable ; le rasoir agréable à l'utilisation, compact, très maniable, léger. Son esthétique fait également sérieuse et solide. La batterie est VRAIMENT TOP !! Le rasoir ne nécessite pas de rechargement avant une bonne semaine, voire 10 jours consécutifs, en l'utilisant pourtant quotidiennement pour un rasage d'une durée de 10-12 minutes.

Quelle différence avec les anciens rasoirs Phillips , rien à voir , moteur digital bien plus lent et donc pas ou plus d'irritation , un rasage doux efficace et donc plus rapide à sec ou avec mousse au choix c'est un régal , excellent choix , je vous le recommande , vous serez surpris ! nettoyage aisé via l'accessoire ou aérosol d'air comprimé (air dust) pour l'utilisation à sec , un de mes meilleurs achats !
