This wasn't much different than attaching a weight to the end of a golf club. Yes, there are some "training videos" that talk about the whipping sound it makes, but I really didn't see any benefit of using this at its cost over something much simpler.

I recently purchased the Thunder Stick, by Upside Golf, to help offset decreased club head speed as I get older. In just a few short weeks I’ve noticed a clear difference. By adding just a couple of miles per hour of club head speed, I’m back up to where I was, years ago, when I was a Class A Member of the PGA working at Oakmont County Club and Seminole Golf Club. I can’t wait to see the other added benefits this spring and summer.

The Upside Golf swing tool was ordered for use when practicing and warming up before a round.This golf swing tool is what I've been looking for in helping me warm up and practice. I have had an older version of a similar stick, and it is not as heavy as this swing tool. The weight of this stick is a little heavier than my driver and 3-wood, and it provides good resistance when it is used. Another of the features that I like is that I can use this tool in gaining some flexibility since the aging process has begun to effect that area of my game. In addition, in gaining flexibility it has helped in other areas of my life. I have played for many years at a higher level, and though my timing and coordination are very good, it will certainly help others who maybe need that extra help. Whether or not the swing tool will help increase ones swing speed is subjective depending on the use of the stick, one's coordination, and one's athletic ability. The product description indicates that it will "increase swing speed up to 23 yards strategically". That is probably the outside limit of an increase.The stick is 45 inches long, and this is about the length of my driver. It has either a regular or stiff shaft (depending on who manufactured the shaft). It felt a little on the stiff side. One of my preferences is that the manufacturer / distributor would offer a choice of flexes from ladies, senior, regular, stiff and extra stiff. That would help make the stick a better choice for the golfer.The swing tool comes with a rubber grip that felt on the smallish size to me. I plan to install another grip that is the same as the grips that are on my current clubs. Also, the price is slightly on the more expensive side for this type of tool.BOTTOM LINE: This is a good choice for helping one's golf game with regard to swing speed, flexibility, warm up, and coordination. For warm up it is much better than trying to get loose with a driver. I like the tool, and would certainly order it again.
