Uniquely useful remote, very high quality image, effective 4 level digital zoom
This is a very high quality 4k modern webcam that has the unique and useful feature of a physical remote. In addition, the digital zoom is quite usable, since the image starts at 4k. Used this recently in an important training conference with great results, where both the physical remote and the digital zoom were important. When you're on Zoom sharing a screen, the last thing you want to fiddle with is another set of camera controls in software. The physical remote avoids this hassle. I was able to quickly zoom in on speakers in the class without risking the Zoom feed by having to run a camera control app. In addition, the image quality was very usable even at maximum zoom. While I would not want to run an entire session on max zoom, it really added to the immersion to zoom in on different members of the audience when they were speaking. To make best use of this combination of capabilities, mount the Depstech on a tripod with a ball head or fluid head that includes panning ability. Image quality, brightness and white balance were all very good at default settings. Hard to ask for more, especially at this excellent price point. Much preferred now over my trusty old Logitech 930s. While I considered various web cams with auto-tracking, they really don't fit the use case of a Zoom conference in a larger room with many attendees. Highly recommended.

Depstech DW50, I'd recommend it.
I recommend this camera. I purchased the DPW 50 because I needed a versatile camera for virtual meetings. The camera checks all the boxes; High quality resolution (4K), versatile, zoom (3X), it works well in low light areas, dual mics w/noise canceling, privacy cover, and adjustments/zoom are accessible via a remote control. Accessories include a mini-tripod, charging cables, USB adapters, a storage/travel bag, and a manual. It’s a great deal at a reasonable price. Depstech’s customer service is outstanding. The remote control for the camera stopped working. The Depstech team walked me through troubleshooting the issue and decided to replace the unit, even though it was outside of the warranty period.

Camera being used in a church ZOOM service for live broadcast and recording.
I bought this after seeing one that was picked out by the ZOOM person at our church using one. I edit the saved copy of the services for posting on Facebook and Youtube. The quality of the video and sound is quite good. We only use one of these for the ZOOM live during the service and then saving and downloading the recorded service. The ability to zoom in and out to move between a person speaking and musicians thirty or forty feet away is a great capability. The sound remains consistent and only needs minor adjustment when editing the videos. This replaced a $400 camera previously used that failed after a year of use and required a cell phone connection to operate. This camera is a good replacement.

Much better picture quality than my built in laptop camera
I have a conference call several times a week, which I take on my laptop. My built in camera would give a more washed out look and if I was near a window then my face would either be in darkness or way too white as the camera attempted to compensate for the Sun. This camera has much better automatic adjustment for ambient light to keep things looking as they should when a very bright light source is affecting part of the room. The camera stays mounted to my laptop and is easy to adjust the field of view. It was very simple to install. There is an adapter for USBC, so it works with that and USBA connections. I don't remember if there was anything that needed to be downloaded when I connected the camera, just went into my settings and chose the camera as the video source and either the camera's speakers or my headphones as the audio source depending on what I feel like that day. The built in speakers are fine, I don't know how much ambient noise they pick up because I only ever use them in a quiet room. Overall, a quality purchase for the cost and as long as you're okay with a relatively large camera on top on your monitor, this is a good choice. Many video chat platforms don't support higher than 720p, but having the capability of higher resolutions when allowed is nice.

Good camera, stopped autofocus, but customer service was great!
Camera worked great, but then I go to use it a year later and for some reason it wouldn't focus. Even though I was past the warranty the customer service was willing to send me a new one since I barely used it and it was mint condition.

Good at first, but failed in few months
I was quite happy with this webcam for the first several months. The 4K picture was sharp, and the remote control with its zoom functionality (a big plus) was incredibly useful for meetings, letting me frame the shot perfectly. Unfortunately, that all changed at around the 8-month mark. The remote control just completely stopped working one day, which meant the zoom feature was also unusable. That was a major disappointment, as it was a key reason I bought this model. I kept using it just as a standard webcam, but then, almost exactly a year after I bought it (about 4 months after the remote failed), the microphone died. Now, I have a 4K webcam that can't zoom and has no mic. It started strong, but I can't recommend it given that multiple key components failed within a year of purchase.

This webcam is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for quality and functionality. The image and audio quality are top-notch, delivering clear visuals and crisp sound. The remote control is a great feature, allowing you to easily adjust zoom, brightness, contrast, and focus. The built-in microphone also provides excellent sound, making it perfect for video calls. Overall, this webcam is highly recommended for its performance and ease of use.

An update to my question : I contacted the service department for assistance in problem-solving the issue of the remote malfunction. When it was clear that the remote was not functioning (the camera continued to be functioning), I was sent a new camera plus remote that works very well. The service personnel were prompt and knowledgeable. They responded to my initial inquiry quickly & gave clear instructions to determine the issue. I particularly appreciated that the emails were clear, efficient, and effective in the instructions. Many thanks to the staff who assisted me. Lynette ___________ This is a terrific webcam. Easy to set up and very easy to use. However, the remote stopped working. I replaced the batteries, but it is still not working. I've left a question here but cannot find it again. Can someone provide some trouble-shooting advice or ideas why this might have happened? Thank you!

You know what they say about you get what you pay for? Well, you get a little more than what you pay for here. The image is clear and crisp. The build quality is excellent. It feels robust and the mounting mechanism allows for very smooth adjustments to many angles. I found the autofocus to be good enough at the price. I mostly used my external mic while testing but people could hear me when I'd forgotten to plug it in so the audio must be okay. The remote is a great addition. The image was a little disappointing with my lighting at first but with some playing around I got a very nice result. You can adjust the saturation, brightness, and contrast. I didn't end up using the tripod but I'm glad it was included. I did end up returning it as I decided I needed some more professional features. For remote office meetings this is perfect, but if you're doing anything online that has a lot of movement (yoga, dance, gesticulating, etc.) expect a lot of motion blur. That might not bother a lot of people. I also found the auto white balance to be a little more blue/purple than I prefer but this is subjective, and probably suits darker skin tones and can be remedied with the right lighting. I'd prefer a slightly wider FOV, especially since you can zoom in, but it's perfect for video conferencing. I wish there was a way to adjust the AWB and shutter speed manually. I'd probably have kept it. Overall, it's a great package for the price, but don't expect perfection.

I have a Dell laptop. It's camera is terrible. On Zoom calls my image is the worst looking. So, I upgraded and purchase this one. It's fantastic. Image is clear and higher quality so looks much better. Has a zoom function so I can show less background but not have to have the camera in my face. Also the stand is excellent because it provides a different perspective. Highly recommended
