It worked!!!
Did what it said on the tin! After suffering constant very loud kettle noises from my 25 year old Potterton Boiler over the past two years I finally found this product. I followed the rather brief instructions on the can and sprayed the contents into my system via a radiator bleed valve. No fiddling with the header tank or draining the system, the whole operation took less than 5 minutes. The result was instant silence and worth every penny.

Stop kettling around
Suffered 'kettling' noises from central heating system over Christmas, with family staying! Tried bleeding, Pump speed etc, then added this treatment, Wow, it works straight away. Simply squirt into radiator (via bleed screw, after operating rad valves to isolate) takes approx one minute! better than paying a Plumber, but it is still expensive for a tube of goo. Overall a great solution, depending on how long it lasts.

Not very Impressed
I have used the Fernox F2 twice before, where a cartridge is supplied which fits a mastic gun. It was easy to use and did a great job silencing the boiler. This time the only option was to purchase the Fernox F2 in a gas cylinder. I could not get a watertight seal into the radiator bleed nipple vent. I had to use one of the fittings from the previous time. This time it did seal. The instructions said press the relief valve for 30 seconds to empty the contents into the radiator. One press of about 2 seconds and the cylinder was exhausted. The cylinder went cold as expected, but I am left wondering if the cylinder was on partly filled.

Easy and clean to use
I use this product each year when the heating goes back on again as the local water is pretty hard and it causes kettling in the boiler. The F2 Express is a fast and easy way to clear out the kettling and does not need you to drain down the system, like the version that goes in the header tank. Simply shut off the system, find a radiator, turn off the two valves, insert the adaptor in the vent socket, open a valve, squeeze the trigger, close the valve, remove the adaptor, replace the vent valve, then open both valves and re-start the system.Cannot really rate the thickness as you never get to see the contents.Newcastle Heating and Plumbing initially sent the wrong version but quickly rectified this and refunded the return postage and sent the correct version.

Followed instructions (pictograms) - made a bit of a mess ...
Followed instructions (pictograms) - made a bit of a mess with the radiator - choose one in a bathroom or kitchen and have towels handy. Product worked inside 48 hours - cured 'kettling' completely - very impressed. Heating engineer had said I needed a new boiler - do not believe them!

Not as good as the original cartridge type
Parts were missing due to damaged packaging. Good job I still had an application tube assy from previous, far better system of filling radiator., very messy to use. Had to use a magnifying glass to read very poor instructions. Needs to be in a bag aswell a box so that when the box gets damaged, all parts are contained. Will use another product next time.

Needs to be more obvious that it won't work for all radiators
Unfortunately the radiator bleed valve filling method doesn't appear to work for all types of radiators.I screwed the pipe in tightly, which cuts a thread in the plastic, but still water squirted out when I turned the valve back on.In examining the bleed valve it seems there's a channel that runs up through the thread, so the plastic pipe is never going to be a good fit. There will always be a path for the water to leak.I'm now going to have to find a way to add the contents of the can some other way. Perhaps empty it into a jug then pour it into the header tank. But that kind-of defeats the object of using the express system.
