Great little heater, cost effective too.
We have had an intermittent problem with our boiler which prevents heating from time to time so until it's fixed I wanted a plan B for Winter. Convector heaters are always billed as reasonably cost effective, so I decided to invest. From the outset, let me say that this is a fantastic little heater. I've only had it for a few weeks so I can't comment on the life of it but I expect it to last years based on other reviews and the good rep of De'Longhi. It has two main power settings (activated via two seperate switches) as well as a further circular dial that you can use with either power level. The switches can be activated either by themselves or together for maximum heat output. This dial is numbered from 1 to 6 and obviously "1" provides a lower level of heat (and uses less electricity) than setting "6", for example. With these combined power options you can tailor the heat to exactly what you like. The heater heats up a room very efficiently (between 5 and 15 minutes and you'll be very toasty very quickly in an average sized room). Once you reach a temperature you're happy with you can put the heater into a "standby" mode via the included thermostat, then when the room starts to lose heat the heater will turn itself back on and heat it back up to the setting you chose prior. This is a lovely little feature as you don't have to keep turning the heater on and off all the time and this is obviously great on energy consumption for the cost conscious buyer. It's worth noting that some of the lower models lack this feature and it's definitely a deal breaker for me. It's a very handy feature. I have also found if I'm home alone I often just use this heater now as the main heat source. Seems a waste to heat the whole house if you're in one room and a convector heater is not meant to use a lot of energy in general.Out of the box it is largely assembled so it's basically plug and go. All you have to do is screw on the "feet" to the bottom of the radiator. Basicaly, if you can use a screwdriver you can set this up very quickly (under 2 minutes). If you'd like to wall mount the heater into a fixed position this will take a bit more time but you also get more screws and some small wall brackets included, to fix the heater onto your wall. I personally haven't used these, I prefer having it mobile, but it's a nice touch. For £30 odd I can't complain with this. It heats well, is compact and delivery was swift and without concern. 5 stars from this happy buyer

Fast heat
When I first got this out of the box I was a bit worried that it seemed rather basic, even flimsy. But I switched it on and I was very surprised by how quickly it gives out heat – it's immediate, not a second's delay. I'm using it in an almost entirely uninsulated out-building that's about 15ft x 8ft. It warms the room very well and very quickly. I had no trouble attaching the feet (I haven't tried wall-mounting it, though the fittings and the instructions for that look simple enough). The only reservation I have is that if I open a door to the room, even momentarily, the loss of heat is almost as immediate. I suspect that an oil radiator, though more expensive to buy and slower to heat, would retain heat better. But overall, I think this is an impressive heater and good value for money.

Excellent small heater, almost instant warmth
This heater takes up little space and is unobtrusive in our lounge. We also have two convector heaters of this brand, one of which is some years old, still working fine, one on the landing and one in the hall. This heater take the chill off the air as well as on a higher setting give out a lot of warmth in our 13 foot lounge; is comparable to the central heating radiator. So much easier to plug in this little heater than wait for the central heating to warm up anyway. They are light to carry so are portable around the home. We are hoping they will keep the gas bill down this winter. I am going to order another one. Please Note: I found out too late that these heaters are very expensive to use regularly. I had 2 on low for 4 -5 hours per day not every day for 2 months this winter and got a massive electricity bill (the price of units has risen from 12.01 pence to 15.75 pence though). After receiving the large bill, then only used the heater about one hour per day in the early morning to take the chill off the air, but found £40 of electricity used in 11 days through using this heater, so have stopped using it altogether. Can't afford another huge bill but fortunately, the weather is quite warm, and at night have extra jumper on/thick dressing gown and slippers, thick socks when sitting down watching TV.The heaters are great, giving out good warmth, but sadly expensive to run.

Nice and Toasty
I bought this heater as a second heater to my current one as the current one is heating up by itself and the wall it was mounted on instead of the entire room and it only heats up for an hour. There were some problems during the delivery but it all ended well. I am very happy with this heater. Warms up my room fast enough and the controls are easy. It is easy to hide it as well because I am not allowed to have any additional heater in my room for fire safety. It can be turned to maintain room's temperature once it reaches the heating level that I am satisfied by turning the knob which I do whenever I sleep. As for the buzzing sound, it was silent at first, then it started to sound. Did not affect me though because I think it helps me to sleep as well.Overall it's good. However, I have one problem that I noticed recently, the heater had sparks whenever i turn the knob or the switch. Is this common?

Works ok but...
Works ok and very cheap. It's CE rated so should be fine but why is an ancient electrical engineer like me nervous about products made of metal and with internally exposed elements that have no earth wire? It just seems unnecessarily skimping basic safety although I'm sure it's been passed by experts. Hence my 3 star rating. As they say you make up your own mind - I think if I was buying again I'd spend a bit more and get one connected by 3 wires.....

Impressively efficient heater with fast warming.
We bought the Delonghi HCM 2030 Convector Electric Heater to provide some warmth in our kitchen which has no heating in it. Previously my wife would put the gas hob and the oven on to warm it up on the cold winter mornings. My wife remembered that we used to have a similar one in our daughter's bedroom when she was a baby, so urged me to buy one.Since we've had this reasonably priced, extremely light and easy to move heater we have used a separate timer to switch it on about 15 to 20 minutes before we go into the kitchen. Result: a lovely warm and cosy environment. We haven't had it long, about a three weeks or so, but are so impressed by its efficiency that we have decided to buy two more (just ordered today). I found it relatively easy to attach the feet so that it's free-standing and can be positioned wherever its needed. It's early days so I hope I'm not tempting fate. If it had its own built in timer it would be even better, but I'm sure the price would be a lot more. The dual heat settings are very useful as is the thermostat.

Does its job
With the cold weather drawing in I decided to get 2 heaters for my 2 bed flat. 1 for my room and 1 for my son's room. Yes there is central heating but with gas prices being so high I opted to focus on using electric heaters for our rooms. The heaters does its job very well. The downside is that this particular item burns alot of electric so one has to be mindful about how long it is used for. However I find electricity prices to be slightly cheaper than the gas prices. I am on a prepayment meter so I notice the costs quite alot.My logic is that I would rather run out of electricity than run out of gas and have no hot water! So I keep the use of the central heating to a minimum. Anyway the realities of living in the 21st century I suppose. Its a decent heater and it will do what it says on the tin.

Excellent heater
I bought this convection heater to replace an aging and very noisy fan heater. On receiving the delivery, the heater was slightly smaller than I had expected. I plan to move it from room to room and so use it as a floor stander. It only took a minute to screw the feet to the base. The heater itself is very light and has two convenient carry handles to enable you to move it around.I switched it on at full power and left it to heat my front room. Returning 10 minutes later, the room was as hot as on a warm summer's day - it pumps out the heat incredibly efficiently. I turned it down until the thermometer clicked - this sets the ambient temperature at which it will keep the room. Thereafter the only noise you hear from is the click as the thermometer switches the heater off and on.I'm very pleased with it, as I can heat my rooms quickly, without drying out the air or having a fan working noisily away.
