Read with caution.
Ian Falloon's long awaited book on the Ducati singles has finally arrived on the bookshelves. As he states in his introduction, he lacks personal experience of these models, and it shows. Whilst there are many interesting photographs and a wealth of information here, he obviously does not have a thorough knowledge of Ducati singles and there are quite a few errors and omissions in his script and captions. Mr. Falloon's books on the V-twin models are considered by some to be the definitive word on the correct details of each model produced. The same cannot be said of this book as there are a considerable number of incorrect statements to catch out the potential bike restorer. Also, his almost complete dismissal of the Spanish Mototrans machines only goes to show his ignorance of their virtues. However, any Ducati singles owner will delight in the large number of full colour photographs of the many any various models shown in an otherwise well produced book.

Si vous êtes familier de la langue anglaise et appreciez les vrais motos Ducati avant qu'elles ne deviennent hype et se prennent pour des Ferrari (bien que les Ferrari se soient arrêtés à la Testarossa) alors cet ouvrage est pour vous des photos incroyables et rares des données précises etc rien que du plaisir de voir une époque ou les motos ressemblaient à des motos et pas à des insectes issus de Mangas. Chez le même excellent éditeur un ouvrage sur les twins en L est aussi disponible.

Une merveille
C'est une merveille, un livre de presque 300 pages dédié aux monos ACT produits par DUCATI. Il couvre toutes les motos produites pour la route, le tout terrain et la course. Le travail de documentation fait par Falloon est colossal avec une grande quantité de photos et l'analyse de l'évolution technique des différents modèles. Depuis la Mariana et les motos de course d'usine des années 60, jusqu'aux 125 175 et 250 FII et FIII, c'est une mine d'informations sur ces motos (numérotation des séries, marquages etc...) Il y a un chapitre entier de 14 pages consacré aux Mach1/S, aux différentes séries de SC et aux SCD (modèles rares qui m'interessent particulièrement) Les motos de route ne sont pas oubliées avec la description de l'évolution des différents modèles dans le temps. Un achat incontournable pour les amateurs de monos Ducati
