Is it clear or red colour?

The actual sticky tape is clear. It's the outer removable bit that is red so it's easy to see. It's one of the easiest double sided tapes that I have used.

Is this tape easily removable? Will it leave residue? E.g. using it to stick a template onto a piece of wood

This is a great tape for crafting when making cards etc, but is NOT really the best tape for what you are looking for. I would suggest maybe use Glue Dots as they can be removed without leaving residue .
