Billie Holiday Rocks
This cd is a new type of music for me. The only time I heard her music was in the movie Forever Young and at the time wanted to get her album at the time but soon forgot about it. I bought this with two other cd's and I'm very happy that I did. She was an awesome performer at her prime. Her music is from the soul. You can tell just by how the words are song. It's too bad her life was so short, just think what she could have accomplished otherwise. I would recommend this cd to anyone who like the blues and wants to hear an awesome performer.

A phenomenal person.
This autobiography written by Billie Holiday clears up all the mystery around her. She was a kind and empathetic person, not just the drug addict she’s perported to have been.

Lady Day @ The Top of Her Game
I've loved Billie holiday from the first instant I heard her. My affection has never wavered. Sampled this album on Amazon, then purchased it. I think if someone is in the process of discovering this one of a kind musical artist, can't think of a better introduction. This is Ms. Holiday at her best. The disc offers 12 songs, each a classic example of her artistry. They include: Strange Fruit/ Fine and Mellow/Lover Man/Don't Explain (my favorite)/ Good morning Heartache/ I loves You Porgy/I Cover the Waterfront. At a bit over 40 minutes, it wouldn't have hurt to have included a few more. The album is titled: The Best of: BILLIE HOLIDAY: The Millunium Collection. Its a partial collection; one of. If you're wondering what all the fuss was ever about concerning Lady Day, check this cd out. If you're still wondering after you do - I wouldn't bother purchasing it. However, if you feel differently, you can't go wrong with this one. Highly recommended.

An Icon forever
Everyone sings Billie's songs. Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughn, Dina Washington, Anita O'Day etc etc, they all do Billie! Some do it like Billie did, some do it in their own style but can there be a greater tribute to an artist than copying her.Perhaps not the greatest of voices but timing, and how she phases words are unbeatable

Sing along
If you like Billie Holiday and the old tunes this is perfect!!!! I can sing along and dance around the house while I am cleaning or just relax with a book and some wine while I listen. Never tire of this music. What a voice. Nice to have the ability to hear all of this again.

If your a blues fan, A MUST!
The woman who strove to sound like a clarinet. She is smooth and soulful. The sound is updated to stereophonic. You hear this magnificent bluesy voice above mellow jazz instrumentation. Few things I rate 5 stars. In this case, I have to. God bless Billie.

Good Holiday Selection
A great price for this selection of her work from 1939 to 1956. Despite being backed by strings, the "Lover Man" track is one of Billie's best renditions of the song. Also noteworthy are "Strange Fruit" and "Fine and Mellow". You can't go wrong with this CD.
