The Egyptian Book of Gates is the second large Pharaonic Book of the Afterlife after The Egyptian Amduat. The revised English translation is based on the German edition, edited by Erik Hornung. The hieroglyphs and transcriptions are given on the basis of a collation of the extant texts found in different tombs. The main illustrations of the text come from the sarcophagus of Seti I. The 100 scenes of the Book of Gates are furthermore represented with one or more colored illustrations, originating from different sources. With an Introduction by Theodor Abt. Contains Bibliography and Index. Não é apenas uma tradução do original, mas também apresenta o texto em hieróglifos original (coisa rara), abaixo do qual a sua transliteração e abaixo da mesma a tradução... de forma que o estudioso ou amante daquela antiga língua pode (se a conhecer por estudos prévios pois este livro não ensina a língua do antigo Egito) acompanhar, alterar, melhorar, criticar ou mudar a tradução proposta, ou em se tratando de estudante aprender junto com o mestre, acompanhando através de sua tradução, passo a passo, o raciocínio gramatical utilizado,revendo seus próprios conhecimentos, reforçando-os, o que em si já é um aprendizado maravilhoso. Worth every PENNY!!
A must read must own book for EVERYONE!! Studying KMT my short review want do it justice! Great book.
Very good photographs of the original writing. Very well constructed book with quality paper, solid binding and handsome dust jacket. The mdw ntr is much clearer than the Amduat publication, which is why I gave this book 5 stars and that one 4. Worth having, the price is steep and if you can find it cheaper id suggest it but this book is worh $100 for sure.

Very Good
A very good presentation of the Book of Gates, with images and hieroglyphs along with the english text which provides a very clear picture... It was well worth it. For anyone interested in Ancient Egypt, it is worth it, no doubt.
