The Biltong Man Tasty Traditional Droëwors Sticks – High-Protein Beef Snack, 1000g (2 x 500g)

Excellent droewors! Fine ground beef, very meaty with a lovely amount of greasy fat. The flavour is great, tried lots of droewors and this one is in my top two 👌🏻

Although the manufacturer is "The Biltong Man", this product is not biltong but is droewors i.e. dried sausage. It's a lightweight and long-lasting dried food which is ideal as a protein-rich food to be carried on multi-day hikes. Sometimes it's a bit tough and chewy, but that's the nature of dried meat products. Even so, it's easier to bite and chew than the average biltong.

Thought I'd try a different company for a change. Considering how expensive these are I probably should have stuck with the ones I normally buy from amazon (unfortunatelyI fell for the packaging). I found the flavour a little bland but the biggest problem for me is the weird waxy residue left in my mouth after eating a few. I tried to put it at the back of my mind as these were not cheap. But unfortunately could only stomach half and had to bin the rest. Which was absolutely gutt wrenching chucking that in the bin. Im absolutely miffed at what it can be. The only thing I can think of is its the consistency of the fat content. And dont get me wrong i like fat content, especially for the flavour. But this is like lard.

This droewors has a bit too much fat content compared to meat content and leaves a taste of fat more than the meat taste flavour. buy droewors in many shops every year in trips to Cape Town and this one is too fatty, flavour balance is good and packaging good
