This is a very engaging, sturdy little sand writing unit. I am pretty amazed by how much my kids actually like this silly little thing, but they do. The like it much more than a plain tray with sand. I might buy another. The red sand is messy, but for the high engagement, I do not mind. Anything to get them WANTING to practice writing letters.

Love this sand writing! My preschoolers enjoy the light as an added bonus. Perfect amount of sand, but do like to change the colors out for variety. Great quality and ease of use!

The concept was good but the sand is not contained so it’s pretty messy. Plus I thought it would light up & the letters to trace would fit onto the screen for tracing. This is really just looking at a card and trying to draw the letters in sand. Not impressed with this one or another one I bought that was similar.

Cute but hard to determine how much sand to use so you can see what is being written. Kids just end up wanting to play in the sand and make a mess.

My students love this light up letter tray. They were so excited to write the letters in the sand, and I identify the letter that they wrote in the sand. I would definitely recommend this product.

The lid does not close properly. Sand gets everywhere very messy.

Good for kid

Bought this item for a 3 year old, its had very limited use. It was a bit of a novelty to draw in the sand but not very engaging, and probably took longer to set up than it was actually played with. The light doesn't show well through the sand, and the pen doesn't write great. We didnt use the cards because all the letters are capitals, where the child is learning lower case letters and letter formation. But the concept of the cards showing how to write the letters is good - could be more suitable for an older child.
