Had this tool since March to upgrade my plastic ones. Great tool as I use it everyday for work and makes it easier to measure as well as long lasting ends so they won’t chip off like the plastic ones! Coworker even wants one of his own!

Use it when no rotation is needed and comes in very clutch, especially in those hard to reach areas

They supply us with the plastic ones at work for video inspections and after breaking the heads on several of them I wanted to look for something a bit more durable that would still offer an accurate measurement so I went with this and it 10/10 gets the job done. It’s excellent.

I work as an automotive service technician for a dealership. My dealer provided the techs with a plastic version of these and they broke easily. These are definitely sturdy and can be almost be used daily. The individual gauges do not bend easily and I have dropped them numerous times and have placed them in pretty tight spots when taking a brake pad measurement when I do not need to take the wheels off the vehicle. I was a little skeptical of the amount of play between the gauges at first but it does help with ease of use, but also causes a slight issue that I will list later. I do have 2 gripes to note though. The first one is that the measurement numbers are not indented into the metal and are printed on. The 10mm measurement wore off within 2 weeks of daily use and the 5, 6 and 4mm measurements are also wearing off. The second gripe I have is the pivot screw that keeps the gauges together does come loose often and there is no good way to keep it tight. I do assume that this happens because of the approximate 2mm gap that the tool has when you squeeze them all together. If the screw would stay tight the play would not be an issue for me as it helps to quickly change between the different measurements. If it wasn't for those 2 things this would be a 5 star review hands down. I am still using these after a year of daily use (still not recommended for daily use if you are not familiar with the break pad measurement numbers). More numbers wore off but the 8mm measurement is still holding strong and legible. I did etch a 10 on the 10mm measurement. The 12 wore off as did the 5 and 4. 3 is on it's way off. Durability is definitely 10/10 even after over a year. Dropped countless times on cement, concrete and even metal, nothing is broken!
