Good product
The first thing that struck me was the lifelike design of these fake owls. The detailing on their feathers, bright yellow eyes, and natural coloration make them look quite convincing from a distance. I placed them strategically around my garden, and it seems that the local birds took immediate notice. The rotating heads are a fantastic feature that adds a dynamic element, making them seem even more lifelike to potential pests. I highly recommend the Hedoc 2 Pack Fake Owl Decoys for anyone struggling with unwanted birds in their outdoor spaces. They are not just aesthetically pleasing but also serve as an effective and humane deterrent. If you’re looking to keep your garden or patio bird-free, these decoys are definitely worth the investment!

Helps keep the Woodpeckers away!
Got these to help keep the annoying Woodpecker off my metal chimney cap. So far it has only returned once. It was coming every morning before 7:00am. I would say that’s a win! It was making me CRAZY! Happy I purchased them. They are slightly smaller than I thought they would be. I have a pole in one and have it attached to the top of my fence with zip ties to give it some height (and it makes it VERY noticeable). Probably keeps them out of my neighbors yard too.

Significant decrease in bird activity
I recently installed a brand-new deck in my backyard and was worried about birds creating a mess or causing damage. After some research, I decided to try the Hedoc 2 Pack Fake Owl Decoys, and I am thrilled with the results! From the moment I set up these decoys, I noticed a significant decrease in bird activity around my deck. The realistic appearance of the owls definitely seems to have done the trick. The craftsmanship is impressive; the decoys look remarkably lifelike, and their presence alone has been enough to keep the birds at bay. One of the best features is the versatility of placement. I positioned one owl on each end of the deck, and the strategic placement appears to be highly effective. Not only do they serve their purpose of deterring birds, but they also add a touch of charm to the deck’s decor. The decoys are also durable and weather-resistant, so they've withstood the elements without any issues. My deck remains clean and bird-free, and I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. If you’re looking for a practical and attractive solution to keep birds away from your outdoor space, the Hedoc Fake Owl Decoys are an excellent choice!

Does not work with squirrels
One of the owls would not move in the wind, only by hand. I returned/exchanged and had the same result with the replacement. That said, my owls must have invited the squirrels over for a party because they ate tomatoes right in front of it, and that's with me moving them around everyday! I do have a picture with a game cam of the squirrel with the tomato in his mouth but it was too grainy to post after zooming in... I'm giving 3 stars because they do look really good and I'm not having issues with birds, but then we never really have. I filled my owls with decomposed granite and they are pretty sturdy - did not get knocked over in 50+ mph storm winds but the squirrels did knock one of them off the fence at some point running past or over it. I just don't get it. We have hickory nuts everywhere. A 250B gallon lake across the street. I even put out a dog bowl with water for the deer that these guys could have but they seem to like my tomatoes more than anything and I was really hoping the owls would work. Only the sight of humans or dogs seem to scare them off.

Decoys just don't work for my situation
So 2 owls, each one gets one star. Really no problem with the build quality. For the price they are really good looking owls, but they just didn't work. Ok they worked for about 2 hours, after which a bird flew right next to the owl and started building a nest. "Oh hi owl, I'm just going to put this nest right next to your foot here if you don't mind". Now to be fair I am in a really difficult spot here in the desert Southwest US. There just aren't any trees around so these birds are totally desperate to nest anywhere they can find, usually houses and other structures unfortunately. I believe we are dealing with mainly finches and sparrows here. I have never found decoys of any kind to be effective so I am not really surprised and the owls are certainly not expensive so I decided to give it a shot honestly because nothing works here....at all!. I got these owls because they were just tall enough to fit underneath this eave we have where the birds have a protected spot right on top of this shade casing that's mounted there. So perhaps you have a different situation. Not likely you will find anything else for that price that's going to work. If you do please let me know!! Again, the quality and everything else about the product is good but they just didn't work in my case.

Works!
I purchased these decoys to help save the birds in my backyard, so they won't get attacked by my sweet but somewhat feral cat. (She's quite the hunter.) I also have oversized glass windows, on sunny days birds sometimes fly straight into them at full speed. (They bounce off like ping pong balls, so sad to see.) So I decided to give these owls a whirl. Let me tell you, these things worked like a charm. I positioned the owls on top of 2 baskets, by the spot in the grass where my cat hides, which is right by these glass windows. Atop the basket's they were only elevated by about 2 feet or so. But that was enough, apparently, because the birds instantly disappeared. I went from having a 100+ birds a day, literally, to no birds, just like that. I put the owls up at night, and moved them to slightly different spots the next day. Same result: zero birds. I haven't set them out since, but will do so again as needed. The only thing I don't like about these decoys is the so-called "wind vane" on the back of the head. In theory the owl's head is supposed to move with the wind, but in my case it didn't work -- the heads just got cocked in weird positions, so I removed the vane. But aside from that, these are very good deterrents. Highly Recommend!

Surprisingly realistic and ready for the garden
These owl decoys look much better in person than I expected. The colors are bright, the eyes stand out, the plastic feels solid, they seem built to handle the weather, and the overall shape feels convincing enough that I did a double take when I first opened the box. The rotating head adds a fun bit of movement that should help keep things lively. The base can be filled for extra stability or attached to something like a broom handle, and the little wind panel on the back of the head is simple to attach. It’s the kind of product you can put out in a couple of minutes without any fuss. I’m really looking forward to trying them in my garden this summer to keep the birds and squirrels away from my tomatoes and sunflowers. Even if they just slow down those little thieves, I’ll be happy 😊. Overall, these are well-made, good-looking decoys that feel like a smart addition to the yard.

Don’t use during owl mating season
We bought this about a month ago, so mid March. It’s mid April now and what we didn’t know was that spring is barn owl mating season here in southern Kentucky. You see we are making an old tobacco barn into a house. My husband is doing much of the work himself and it’s taking a while. The barn isn’t bird proofed yet and they’re building nests everywhere and pooping all over the recently poured concrete foundation, among other things. So we thought an owl decoy or two might scare them off. Well, they scared off the house sparrows and the finches and whatever other song birds had been messing about in the barn. But one of our decoys has a boyfriend. Hubby reports that one evening, shortly after he positioned the owls, he walked in on an owl doing his level to best to win the heart of our fair decoy. So ardent was this owl that he wasn’t phased by a human so close. He just kept right on pitching woo and had to be chased off the premises. Did you know that amorous owls poop a lot? We didn’t either but that’s been our experience. Owl poop, for your information, is not fun to clean up. So after two or three nights of unintentionally hosting a barn owl catfish scheme, we’ve taken our decoy down for the time being. The other decoy, less prominently displayed, was unnoticed by our owl friend, but as a precaution we’ve turned ‘her’ face to the wall. So yes, this thing will deter other small birds, but be warned: under the right circumstances it can attract owls.
