I'm looking for a mannequin to learn braiding. I'm reading this one shreds a lot... will this work for tight close to the head braids?

All the mannequin heads have shedding hairs. It is inevitable. This mannequin is made of 100% human hair, shedding is less than synthetic hair.

Can i dye the hair and wash it?

Its 100% human hair, my daughter washes it all the time, curls it flat irons it. So I'm sure you can dye it.

Does the hair fall a lot?

A little fall out when i first pulled it out if the box, but even after that the hair was still easy to work with. Its not too thin anywhere even after the small loss of hair. You can wash the hair with shampoo, and conditioner, you can curl it, straighten it, dye the hair. I personally use it to practice installing dreadlocks, and braids. I would not recommend dying their hair or using heat against it often because it is real hair it will dry out and break off overtime like any normal hair but this hair won’t grow back because it’s not living hair anymore.

Can this be used for practicing face painting? Will the face wash clean?
