Very happy with this
Very happy with this. I have had it for 4 months and it has given me no trouble. Easy to connect/partition. I use a dual setup with an SSD and this Hard drive, and have no problems going between the two.

Fantastic Hard Drive works very well and a really great price

Old used drives steer clear
Drive arrived promptly. However the drive, contrary to the listing, is not a new drive but a factory refurbished model from 2012. These drives should be clearly advertised as factory refurbished so consumers can decide if they want to purchase them knowing the facts. I noticed after, someone said what do you expect for the price. Well I have just bought a replacement for only £15 more so this just seemed slightly cheap not very cheap. All of that is irrelevant they should have been advertised correctly. This just wasted a load of time trying it out and then having to package the thing back up for return to Amazon not to mention the fact that I still need to replace the drive so that is also lost time.

Basic hard drive but works
Hard drives these days are really hit and miss. Failure rates are high and I just don't trust them. This particular hard drives is reasonable for the money but makes quite a noise when used in a NAS. It's not just because it's in a NAS, but that's how I'm using this one (2 in fact). Lots of crackling noises but it's working...for now

Would buy again
Because I've been using the Ultrastar for only a month, I can't, in honesty, give it 5-stars until I know how long it lasts, but I see no reason why it won't last as long as any other 2TB HDD. It's quiet, and seems to be well made ...but only time will tell. In any case, Hitachi drives have a good reputation.

Not new!!
Like the other reviewer has said these drives are not new! The seller I've got is C-PAY and seems to be from Germany. The drive is received with some minor scratches and SMART log shows at least 20,000 hours on the drive when SMART test was last run.
