Great for us, install through drywall possible, auto control is neat
Installed as new fan where previously was nothing, in finished ceiling. Install not too bad, but had to bend over tabs on outside to fit it through rough opening in drywall. Totally doable, but not designed to fit through hole in drywall right out of the box. Controls seem to work well. "Auto" humidity sensing turns on once in a while, which is good since we have in a basement bath. Very quiet on auto, which is a very low speed. Quick flick of wall switch (off then back on) changes from auto to full speed. Seems you have to flick off/on again to go back to auto (or just off), wish it had a timer to return it to auto function. It is pretty quiet in both modes, but not silent in high speed. Also not load enough to cover any other sounds in a bathroom. Has an LED behind grille to help know what mode, blue in auto, orange in full speed. I'd buy again. Simple and effective.

Very happy with this fan
This fan is great for our needs. Money was well spent. I replaced a typical, new-build fan which was loud and underpowered. Install wasn't bad. The new fan fit in the same spot as the old fan. Just had to swap out housings. We leave it on all the time. The blue light is bright enough to see at night and not bright enough to wake someone up. The fan does run sometimes when the shower has not been used for a while. I like the fact that it has variable speeds. It will start out low, then up the speed when someone is in the shower. It will slow down again when the moisture reduces. It does all this very quietly.

Make sure you know what the exact size is of the fan you are replacing.
I ordered these to replace several tired NuTone fans that were original to the house. These measured 7 1/2 and 7 1/4. I figured these would exchange with the ones I am replacing with little fuss. Unfortunately they required drywall cutting in my case of half an inch to get these to seat completely. So yes, these are a smaller fan that almost fit most applications but if they don't, cutting1/4 to 1/2 inch of drywall is basically the same as cutting 6 inches. I don't mind doing this but at this point, I really could of just cut any size I needed and went to the big box store and picked one out. This is on me for not reading the measurements exactly and realizing that these need to sit flush with the drywall and not above it. I wasn't going to the large size fan anyway and these are quiet for sure. I have the one with the sensor on in my kids bathroom size they never remember to put it on to avoid steaming up so we will see how that goes. I think my point is that these aren't a simple plug and play replacement even if the size is mostly the same. You still need to remove the old one. If its in an attic, you will most likely need to get up there since its nailed or screwed on the tabs that aren't accessible from below.

Excellent customer service and fan good value
I purchased this fan twice because I like the humidity sensor feature, the relatively quiet fan, and led indicators for mode. The humidity sensor is a small part attached to the fan (optional) and after 4 years, this sensor failed. I contacted customer service. They were polite and responsive and replaced the humidity sensor. I wholeheartedly recommend this bathroom fan with the humidity sensor.

This fan was the PERFECT solution. It turns on and stays on automatically ...
I had wanted to install one of the humidity sensing light switches in my bathroom. Prior to moving in, there had been no ventilation in the bathroom, and after scrubbing and bleaching mold off of the textured walls and cieling, I didn't want to risk not leaving the fan running long enough to prevent EVER having to deal with that mess again. But the electrician wasn't able to make the sensor switch work due to the older wiring. This fan was the PERFECT solution. It turns on and stays on automatically long enough to clear out the moisture after a shower and then shuts off. No need to leave the bathroom door open, or crack a window in the freezing cold. It's relatively quiet, and most importantly slim enough to fit into basically non-existant space in my attic ceiling rafters. My only complaint is the color. Wish it was white. It's more of a gray, and I'll probably end up spray painting it at some point.

This fan is great and great value
I remodeled our spare bathroom and didn't want to break the bank on items like this, but i knew I wanted a humidity sensor (live in S Florida and didn't install a shower door... its just a walk in). I had installed a humidity sensor in another bathroom via the wall switch for the fan, but it never worked as desired. This unit has the sensor built in. It has a cool feature allowing multiple flips of the light switch to change (blue light auto, orange on, no light off). When on auto, the fan comes on nearly SILENT! It also uses little energy so I don't mind it coming on frequently. The high (orange light) setting is audible but really when you know you want the fan on high and don't mind hearing it. Even then it isn't terrible.

How to replace existing Broan 688
Install tips: I bought this as a replacement for an existing noisy Broan 688. Replacing an existing fan is much more difficult than installing new. To pull out the existing fan, it has wings which are on the opposite side of the air duct. I had to cut the nails with a sawsall and torch blade and extend the cut 1 inch beyond the existing opening so you can pull the box down and have the wings come out. You also have to detach the air duct by pushing the bracket to the side. There's no way you're getting that box out with the duct attached. Getting the new fan in, you need to pull out the duct and attach the connector and push it back in flush. When wiring, watch which side the wire comes into and check if you have enough slack to push the box back into the ceiling. Then push the box back up and as you do that, connect the duct and snap it into place as you push up. It isn't possible to insert the box with the duct connected. Once it was in, I didn't think I would call this "quiet" or "hardly noticeable". While a great improvement on the 688, you may want to consider the even quieter 50CFM version of this product. But I wanted to have automatic humidity activation. The blue light is quite bright and could serve as a nightlight so you don't have to go stumbling in the dark. It turns on at 60% humidity and it has turned on even though there didn't appear to be moisture conditions. It runs fairly slow when it did this. It seems to have variable speed depending upon the humidity. I still had some fog on my mirror with doors closed in my 90sq ft bathroom. But by the time you get dried and dressed, the mirror had enough time to clear up. It did start up when the shower started and stopped sometime later automatically.

Either Specs Misleading or Fan is Defective
I really wanted this fan (model SLM70H) to work as the installation instructions and online spec sheet advertised to replace my 50 CFM bathroom ventilation fan. My builder's stock 50 CFM fan was inadequate and I was hoping for this fan's extra airflow to clear the bathroom of condensation during a shower. Since it was to go in a quest bathroom, I wanted it to turn on automatically via the humidity sensor in case the quest forgot to turn on the fan prior to taking a shower. Unfortunately, I found through testing that this fan had a reduced airflow if triggered on via the humidity sensor vs the manual "Full Speed" mode. TESTING PROCEDURE & RESULTS BACKGROUND: It is a good practice to test fans prior to installation to make sure they were not knocked out of alignment during shipment. An out-of-balance fan would be much louder than expected and have a shorter life span. I also wanted to test the humidity sensor's operation of the fan. TEST SETUP: I set the fan on the bathroom vanity counter on several folded sheets of rug gripper material to isolate the fan body from the counter. I did this because in addition to testing the fan's humidity sensor trigger points, I also wanted to hear how quiet the fan was without the fan body vibrating on the counter. The blower intake was facing upward and next to the fan's humidity sensor I placed my digital humidity sensor. The fan was wired up as per instructions and an inline switch was installed to simulate the wall switch. TESTING PROCEDURE: I closed the bathroom door and turned on the shower so it would fill the bathroom with steam and watched for the fan to turn on and record the humidity trip point. I then turned off the shower, opened the bathroom door and turned on my current bathroom fan to clear the bathroom of humidity. I then recorded the humidity level at which point the fan turned off. I did this three times. In addition, I triggered the fan's "Full Speed" mode by quickly turning the fan on and off. TEST RESULTS: The fan turned on around 52% - 53% relative humidity, within the spec'ed 60% +/-10% range. It turned off around 45% - 46%, which wasn't unexpected due to hysteresis. The fan was very quiet when it was triggered on via the humidity sensor, but the airflow wasn't great. I did not have an anemometer to measure airflow, but could tell it was substantially less than the airflow in "Full Speed" mode. Also, the fan noise in "Full Speed" mode was louder as you might expect. CONCLUSIONS: I called Delta tech support and spoke with several people who thought the fan speed in both modes of operation should be the same according to the spec sheet. I questioned them as to why the spec sheet refers to a "Full Speed" mode instead of a "Manual" or "Continuous ON" mode. They did not have an answer for that. So if there is indeed supposed to be only one speed that this fan operates at, then I have a defective unit. I am returning this fan.

Very quiet
Love this bathroom fan. The auto humidity sensor is great as after showering it comes on automatically and shuts off automatically. Comes with all you need to mount in your ceiling.

Good unit overall
Purchased to replace and old unit with similar ducting so make it easy on myself. This unit was a bit bigger then the old so just needed to cut a bit more drywall out. Make sure your existing venting fits this unit. All and all good unit. Has a 2 speed adjustment from the switch or from humidity level. speed one will show a green LED and speed 2 shows a yellow LED. Again if you turn the switch on it will probably show green but as your showering and humidity starts to rise it will automatically sense and go into speed 2. Speed 1 quiet, Speed 2 is fairly quiet also.

Just buy it!
Super quiet in the blue light range. Even taught itself to start in blue light range every time unless we double toggle the light switch for hi speed. Humidity sensor very effective! Love it
