i will never stop reading this book. it is so beautiful

This is not for anyone who is anti-Catholic because it is something that can be accepted only based on faith. Faith that God allows certain of His servants to receive visions, locutions, etc., and that they can be passed along to the faithful. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, there is no new revelation since the Canon of scripture was decided. These private revelations are special graces given to the recipient and so long as they do not go against the Faith, the local bishop can deem them acceptable for the faithful to read and to accept or reject as they choose.I believe that they are actual factual events and am grateful to God for giving such graces to His faithful. I especially enjoyed learning, through Mary of Agreda, about the life of Mary that is not recorded in the Gospels or other New Testament books. Another favorite of mine is The Dolorous Passion Of Jesus Christ" by Anne Catherine Emmerich. We used it in conjunction with a Lenten study on the Passion of Christ this past spring and it greatly enhanced our understanding of all the suffering endured by Jesus and his mother Mary.

This book should be read by the World! The Mystical City of God is both awesome and inspiring. You will cry and feel every emotion a human being can feel. It answers every question you may have of the Holy Family individually and and as a Family.Take your time in reading this beautiful book. Meditate on Our Lady's words. May God Bless You and may your Love of Our Blessed Mother and Her Son guide you to Heaven.

I learned so much from reading this book. And I've grown to a greater knowledge and appreciation of Our Lady. It's the kind of book you'll want to read more than once. I'm on my second read.

This is a wonderful abridged version of the original work, which I later found and bought (4 Volumes: 8 Books: 2676 pages), written by Sister Mary of Jesus, (1602-1665), Superioress of the Convent of the Immaculate Conception in Agreda, Spain, and later translated from the original Spanish by Fiscar Marison (Rev. George J. Blatter) of Chicago.It is a must read for anyone who wishes to know more about the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of which the Bible contains so little. This is not by coincidence. Prior to the evangelists beginning their writings of the Gospels, Our Lady appeared to each at their time with the request that concerning Herself nothing be written except only what was "absolutely necessary for manifesting the Incarnation and other mysteries of the Word made man, and for establishing his faith in the world as the foundation for his Church." Once the faith was established the Lord would assign other persons the task of revealing her life at the most opportune time (Vol.4, Page 483).I believe with all my heart that this is that work. I'd like to add a point regarding private revelations: A great Pope once said, "In cases which concern private revelations, it is better to believe than not to believe, for, if you believe, and it is proven to be true, you will be happy that you believed, because our Holy Mother asked it. If you believe, and it should be proven false, you will receive all blessings as if it had been true, because you believed it to be true." (Pope Urban VIII, 1623-1644)

I am a cradle Catholic. I've always known about Mary as the Blessed Mother of Jesus.While I have had a deep sense of Faith and kinship with the Holy Trinity, I didn't give much thought to Mary. That was until a friend sent a Miraculous Medal to me a couple of months ago. What a miracle and search for knowledge was ignited by this gift.This was originally printed in 4 separate volumes. These have been joined into this one, very hefty, book. The paperback version has 608 pages. The table of contents is invaluable in that it helps one navigate the way through the life of Our Blessed Mother.I have spent time with tabs etc to organize the book. I don't imagine it would be one that a person would read from cover to cover. I am using it as a reference book, reading the section that pertains to the daily readings of the Catholic Church.Great book for every Catholic home.

Years ago a read a little of the book in paperback format; this is a larger paperback and is chock-full of interesting information about the Holy Family, starting with the man and woman who would become Jesus' earthly parents. Highly recommended.

Mary's creation of soul and body was a carefully created being...deliberately to be gifted and in closenes with the Trinity as no other creature created beforehand...she was exalted in Her relationship higher than any angel and even over the original man creation of adam and eve. No sector of her existance was overlooked...from her parents or anything. She was ordained to be Gods' Holy and Perfect Spouse....His Queen from the moment of her creation and onto her Immaculate Conception as the covenant to give birth to Lord and Saviour Jesus. From all 9 choirs of angels was chosen 100 from each..plus additional seraphim giving Mary a life-long angelic protectorate of 1,000 [personally picked by God] angels with St Michael in charge. Her intimate visions and dialogue with the 3 Persons of the Trinity is unparralleled [sp?].She intimately saw and felt the entire Crucifixtion...blow by blow carried in strength by God lest she die from the anxiety alone. Her time of departure from earth was a most heavenly and joyous taking that was so exceptional but deserved according to God of this most holy and perfect being. She now sits at the right hand of the Lord being given 'ALL' OF HEAVEN AND EARTH....SHE IS THE MOST HOLY QUEEN whose petitions on our behalf will never be denied..says the Almighty.
