Black + Decker CLMA4820L2-GB Cordless Autosense Lawnmower with 2 x 2 A Batteries - Black

Brought this mower over Christmas. I read the reviews and thought it was this or a smaller Bosch Rotak. I thought the extra width would be better. Last couple of weeks it's been sunny, so waited till it was a nice day. The lawnmower is easy to setup and the battery was showing as charged even though I have not touched it since early December. The mower itself is reasonable in weight, considering it is the large, would be equivalent to the weight of a cheap and cheerful low-end petrol mower. Started up straight away. Which is a bonus as I am used to using petrol mowers. My last petrol mower was a beast in weight, however the rear plastic wheels broke/cracked after a month. So, thought I'd try a cordless mower. My lawn is reasonably sized 13m x 10m and a few odd bits, which are of little significance. The grass was pretty long in certain areas, put the mower to setting 3 and walked the walk. I managed to mow the whole lawn on the charged battery, I guess I could have done another 2m x 2m by the time the battery may have discharged completely. I was pleasantly surprised as I thought I'd only get a quarter done. It comes with two batteries and I have a third from my Strimmer. The nice thing is the LI-ON batteries can be used within the Black & Decker range. The nice thing is the mower had no issue cutting the really long grass if anything, my petrol mower would have stalled on it. You can hear the motor power working harder on the longer grass, so the motor is providing the extra power when needed. I was skeptical as one review and comments suggested it was poor quality. However, this mower has stood up well. It is powerful and the battery lasted. It is a big mower and I wouldn't expect my mother to operate it. But, it is manoeuvrable and easy to handle from my perspective. As it is big and powerful, it made light work of the lawn. I guess if you had a lawn over double my size, then of course you'll need 2-3 batteries. Now, I can't say if the LI-ON batteries are at fault as I have had issues with earlier LI-ON batteries on a different B&D product. However, the two that came with the mower seem good, considering the length of the grass it tackled. Final thoughts, I definitely give this mower a thumbs up. It is big and powerful, the Autosense kicks in and works a treat. The batteries charge up quickly as well, fully charged in less than 30 minutes. So, cannot complain really. Overall, very pleased and happy with the Black & Decker CLMA4820L2-GB Cordless.

Heavier than looks and is underpowered. You'll need both batteries for a good sized lawn. Not all that happy with first cut long grass, but does what it says on the tin, and I'm happy with that.

Even though I bought this mower for just over £200 it is worth double that. Really wide for fast mowing, light as an 35inch wide cables mower. Very robust great 2 batteries last about an hour total. Best Buy ever !

Probably ok if you have a small lawn that is bowling green flat. Otherwise dont touch this product, Battery life is between 15 and 20 minutes, then the battery overheats and cant be recharged for a few hours until it has 'cooled down'. The sellers (Tooled-Up) and Black and Decker both proved to be unhelpful. Tooled-up refused a return as i had used it! (initially they offered a return but changed their tune when I tried to implement it). Black and Decker suggested I should have bought a corded mower, or I could buy another battery! All round bad experience with the product and the customer services of both companies.

Came as promised very fast. Was over £100 cheaper than other places, with two batteries no less. Only issue, a small one being that the cord for the battery charger came with the 2 pin European plug. Not a big deal as a converter costs 2 pounds and is no bigger than a regular UK plug, plus I had another charger from my black and decker strimmer anyways.

Good quality mower, battery lasts about 25/30 mins, great on flat lawn but harder work on slopes as there is no ‘drive’ like you would get with a petrol mower.... so have to push up hill.

Arrived with two batteries but only one will take a charge.....the one not charging flashes permanently red.......at up to 360.00 a replacement the already excessive charge of of 360.00 is not a fair price especially when the day after it was ordered there was a price drop to 3256.00 for the same mower and quantity of batteries....as a consumer I feel extremely let down, how do I get a working replacement battery....the machine itself works......also the charger came with a round two pin lead but no uk socket to plug that into.

My previous lawnmower was a Mountfield with a Honda petrol engine and lasted a good 16 years - at which stage the metal chassis was corroded. I decided to go electric in 2018 and paid £300 for this B&D lawnmower, as I have other 36V tools and therefore spare batteries. Unfortunately the performance of this lawnmower has been WOEFUL and, by the end of summer 2021, only one of the 4 x B&D 36V batteries I own will turn the blade after only 3 years of light use. I’m not an engineer but the motor needs more power to turn this wider blade - and the batteries just aren’t up to the job. I could buy another couple of batteries but as they are £75+ each this would make the ongoing costs (£150 every couple of years) ridiculously high. This has to be one of the worst tools I have purchased and I am now looking to scrap the machine after just 3 summers. I wouldn’t buy a B&D lawnmower again.

Compre la maquina en julio de 2017 ya que la anterior de gasolina, tras 17 años de servicio, había llegado a su fin, lo que requería frecuentes mantenimientos y demanda de grandes esfuerzos físicos debido a los movimientos bruscos para poder arrancar la maquina con elevado riesgo de lesiones. Tengo un jardín de 125 m2 , en la decisión sobre el reemplazo de la vieja maquina de gasolina por otra nueva, valore cambiar a una de bateria ,aunque tenia mis dudas principalmente por la durabilidad de las baterías. Sin embargo tras la decisión de batería frente a gasolina, elección y compra de la Black&Decker CLMA4820L2-QW. y tras un año de funcionamiento puedo decir que fue una compra excelente. Utilizo aprox. batería y un poco de carga de la segunda, (la maquina viene con 2 uds), arranque sin esfuerzos, poco ruidosa, gran fiabilidad, sencilla y ágil de manejo, carga rápida, mulching de gran calidad (de hecho nunca he utilizado el cesto) . En húmedo consume algo mas pero funciona perfectamente. En definitiva una gran compra. La recomiendo.

Bei Akkugeräten stellt sich immer die Frage, auf welches Pferd man setzen möchte (also welches Schweinerl hätten's gern), denn teuer sind nicht die Geräte, sondern die Akkus. Ich habe mich schon frühzeitig für B&D entschieden und habe von Freischneider über Heckenschere bis Kettensäge schon das fast ganze Programm - alles in 36V. Und kein Stück bereut ;-) ! Daher war es nur eine Frage der Zeit, auch den Rasenmäher umzustellen - das nervige Benzinungetüm wollte ich eigentlich immer schon gern in Rente schicken. Ca 300qm Rasen in mehreren Teilstücken und etlichen Bäumen und Rabatten dazwischen, garniert mit einem Haufen Kienäppeln und Nadeln, also eher ein robuster Wiesencharakter als der old-english-lawn. Das ganze hat auch noch einige Niveauunterschiede, so dass auch mal gut zu schieben ist und der Mäher immer wieder vor und zurück muss. Der schwere Benzinmäher hatte da durchaus seine Berechtigung, war aber immer ungeliebt, weil laut, immer schwer zu starten und entweder mit dem Antrieb zu langsam oder zu schnelle und ohne ganz schön schweisstreibend, vor allem bei dem vor - zurück in den engen Ecken. Nun also mit Akku. 2 Stück sind dabei, mehrere andere habe ich ja schon, so dass die in anderen Rezensionen bemängelte Laufzeit kein Problem sein sollte. Zunächst: Auch dieser Mäher ist ganz schön groß - deutlich größer, als erwartet. Für den Transport war er im Smart nur ohne Verpackung zu verstauen. Das Gewicht ist ok, durch den Kunststoff und den E-Motor ist er wesentlich leichter und wendiger als die Stinker - ihn mal eine Treppe hochzunehmen geht auch ohne Gewichthebertraining. Der Fangkorb hat ein geradezu gewaltiges Volumen, der Stinker war nicht größer. Die Möglichkeit auf Mulchen umzustellen ist praktisch für den Straßenrand - da hab ich keine Lust, das Schnittgut bei mir unterzubringen... Gehäuse ist stabiler Kunststoff, wir werden sehen, wie haltbar. Bisherige Kontakte mit Mäuerchen und sonstigen Hindernissen wurden klaglos quittiert. Das Betriebsgeräusch ist seeehr angenehm, da dürften auch die Nachbarn nicht meckern, wenns mal nach 12.00Uhr wird! Die Schittleistung ist kein gravierender Unterschied zum Benzinmäher. Auch bei schnellerem Schritt hatte ich da keine Aussetzer. Kienäppel hat er auch klaglos mitgenommen. Angenehm auch die sehr hohe Einstellmöglichkeit (fast schon "offroad"), das ist hilfreich für unseren Graben vor dem Grundstück, durch den ich jetzt auch mit dem Mäher durchgehe, statt wie bisher mit dem Freischneider. Und die Akkuleistung? Ich habe bisher noch keinen 3. Akku gebraucht, allerdings waren beide auch gut leer (nicht abgeschaltet, aber keine Kontroll-Led mehr an). Wer sich mehr Zeit lässt, wird um eine Dritten oder das sofortige Nachladen nicht herumkommen. Fazit: Wer schon im System ist oder sich hier einkaufen möchte, ist bestens aufgehoben. Der Mäher ist robust und leistungsstark, die Akkulaufzeit ist akzeptabel. Nachtrag nach fast einer kompletten Saison: Nichts zu meckern. Wenn man den Rasen nicht zu hoch werden lässt, funktioniert auch das Mulchen erstaunlich gut - dieses Jahr habe ich bei großzügig wöchentlichen Mähen den Fangkorb noch nicht gebraucht.. Häufigeres Mähen ist mit dem B&D auch tatsächlich netter - mit dem Stinker hatte ich kaum Lust, öfter als zweimal im Monat zu mähen, jetzt auch mal zwischendurch... Akkulaufzeit: Bleibt bei 2 Akkus. Allerdings ist das mit dem Zwischenladen so eine Sache - bei zügigem Mähen wird der Akku warm und verweigert sofortiges Aufladen. Das Abkühlen bis zur Ladefähigkeit kann dann schon mal eine Stunde dauern. Wer größere Flächen hat, sollte dies berücksichtigen

Diciamocelo, questi nuovi accessori a batteria stanno diventando dei pacifici (e benevoli) invasori che proliferano ormai fino a circondarci completamente e stanno cambiando così, piano piano, la nostra vita. Batterie sempre più efficienti e potenti (queste hanno 36 volt, ma stanno già uscendo a 54 v - che sono praticamente la metà della tensione domestica degli USA!! - e chissà in futuro dove arriveranno!) consentono da un po' prestazioni che non hanno nulla da invidiare ad alimentazioni di rete o a scoppio. Altre doti: leggerezza, praticità, l'essere sempre subito pronti, silenziosità, ecologicità (rispetto ai motori a scoppio), assenza di cavi, facilità di trasporto, costo di utilizzo praticamente zero. Ce n'è una lista infinita, e (non casualmente) tutte contribuiscono in maniera ideale a rendere più tangibile e concreta l'immagine dell'attrezzo quando viene definito - classicamente - prolungamento (strumentale) del corpo naturale. Già c'è una rosa invidiabile di doti a loro favore. Ma quando si arriverà a produrre batterie ad altissima efficienza e bassissimi tempi di ricarica (qualcosa c'è già nell'aria...), questa tecnologia, a livello home ma anche professionale, non avrà rivali. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ ☛ IL TAGLIAERBA ☚ 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ Dopo questo pistolotto ispirato a caldo dall'uso dello strumento pochi minuti fa, parliamo di questo tagliaerba. :) E' arrivato da pochi giorni e l'ho usato finora solo due volte, per un totale di 400 mq circa trattati. Al momento, e forse si vede anche dall'introduzione "ispirata" che mi ha "estorto" sopra :), sono molto piacevolmente sorpreso. Dopo anni di macchinosi, pesantissimi e rumorosissimi tagliaerba a scoppio, mi pare di essere arrivato in paradiso. Detto più laicamente: siamo proprio su un altro pianeta! 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ 👌 TRAZIONE 👌 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ Innanzitutto devo parlare dell'aspetto che più mi preoccupava: la trazione. Non ha la trazione. Lo sapevo, ed era lecito farsi qualche domanda, avendo tra le altre cose anche due strisce di verde lunghe oltre 100 m da tagliare periodicamente. Beh, mi preoccupava ingiustamente, perché spostare questo tagliaerba è come spostare una piuma. Faccio meno (molto meno) fatica che col tagliaerba a scoppio con trazione! Dubbio risolto. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ ✌ MULCHING ✌ 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ Non avevo dubbi (o quasi) invece sulle altre caratteristiche perché essendo in possesso di altri accessori di questa linea di prodotti a 36V di questo produttore, conoscevo già la loro sorprendente efficienza. Infatti, non mi sbagliavo. Taglia perfettamente ed è possibile farlo così velocemente ed in assoluta leggerezza che ho deciso di farlo più frequentemente. Praticamente passo ora alle prime ricrescite, evitando così di portarmi dietro il cesto di raccolta da 50 litri, a tutto vantaggio della praticità e manovrabilità. L'erba è molto meno e viene tutta sminuzzata (mulching) perciò non infeltrisce il prato, anzi lo concima ed il verde è sempre rasato perfettamente. Pare congelato nel tempo nello stato di lunghezza ideale :). Prima lasciavo crescere abbastanza, poi quando passavo con quello a scoppio il cesto lo dovevo svuotare più e più volte. Non avrei potuto lasciare infatti tutti i resti sul prato, vista la loro notevole quantità. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ 🔧🔍 LE ALTRE CARATTERISTICHE IN SINTESI 🔧🔍 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ • In ogni caso per ogni esigenza si può operare in tre modi: mulching, scarico diretto laterale, e sacco di raccolta posteriore. • Riguardo l'autonomia, visto il poco uso che per ora ne ho fatto, ancora non mi posso pronunciare, aggiornerò con dati più precisi. Da quanto visto mi pare che 600 mq con due batterie sia una indicazione un po' ottimistica o comunque molto al limite. Ma sarò più preciso in seguito. • La velocità di rotazione della lama è molto elevata, per effettuare efficacemente il mulching (triturazione fine). Questa velocità permette anche, volendo, di passare con rapidità sul terreno, non dico che si possa proprio correre, ma poco ci manca. :) • Aggiungo che ci sono sette altezze di taglio facilmente regolabili con una sola leva da 38 mm a 100 mm. • La larghezza di taglio è invece di 48 cm: notevole per un accessorio a batteria, alla pari con quella dei motori a scoppio più performanti! • Va detto anche che il motore è autosense e cioè dosa da solo la potenza in base al tipo di lavoro da svolgere analizzando lo sforzo. • Se, come nel mio caso, avete anche dell'erba vicino ad un muro, potete rasare tranquillamente seguendo il muro perché la lama si estende lateralmente fino al bordo in linea con le ruote, ed il prato sarà rifilato alla perfezione. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ 👌 SILENZIOSITA' 👌 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ Infine, un elemento che per me è stato fondamentale nella scelta: la silenziosità. Posso tagliare l'erba all'ora che voglio senza disturbare nessuno. D'estate, col caldo sahariano, l'ideale è 20 minuti prima del sorgere del sole (dipende dal periodo, ma mediamente diciamo verso le 5,30). Si vede già bene, è fresco, nessuno ti disturba e, soprattutto, nessuno viene disturbato dal rumore prodotto perché nessuno si accorge per via del silenzio che stai lavorando. Impossibile ottenere tutto questo con un motore a scoppio. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ 📌 PROBLEMI (EVENTUALI) 📌 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ Un problema, però, potrebbe esserci: ha la scocca in plastica e occorre quindi fare attenzione a qualsiasi corpo solido che può essere presente tra l'erba, come per esempio sassi, pigne, pezzi di legno, ecc. sporgenti fino a trovarsi in prossimità o oltre l'altezza delle lame (e non quindi semplici sassolini). Colpiti dalla grande velocità della lama questi oggetti si trasformano infatti in altrettanti proiettili e possono rompere la scocca in un baleno. In passato avevo acquistato un tagliaerba a scoppio con la scocca in plastica e praticamente l'ho distrutto subito. Attorno, a ricoprirlo, dopo un po' non c'era più nulla e l'ho dovuto buttare (a dirla tutta ho tenuto il motore perché era nuovo, ma sta in armadio in garage a prendere polvere). Ancora oggi dopo anni e anni ritrovo pezzettini della sua carrozzeria andata in mille pezzi disseminati in giro nel prato per ogni dove. Quindi attenzione, spero non capiti, ma per fare in modo che non succeda meglio perlustrare alla perfezione il terreno e bonificarlo da ogni tipo di materiale che colpito dalla rotazione della lama potrebbe nuocere gravemente alla scocca (a parte, ovviamente, rovinare di sicuro le lame). Magari questa scocca è più resistente di quella che ho sperimentato io, una plastica invulnerabile (!) e le mie sono solo paranoie, però meglio non rischiare, no? Se succedesse, considerando tutti i pregi (ed il costo) di questo tagliaerba, sarebbe un vero peccato. 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ ✔️ CONCLUSIONI ✔️ 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ Lo consiglio: • a chi ha un giardino fino a 500-600 metri quadri (ma chi ne ha di più può sempre aspettare la ricarica); • a chi desidera uno strumento leggero, da manovrare senza sforzo; • a chi abita in un luogo in cui (• oppure desidera operare in orari in cui) il rumore può essere un problema; • a chi non vuole trafficare con benzina, olio motore, filtri dell'aria da pulire, messe in moto difficoltose, mezzi pesanti; • a chi desidera uno strumento a "problemi zero", sempre pronto all'uso. Chi ha tutte queste esigenze troverà in questo acquisto la soluzione ideale. Per me è stato una manna dal cielo e, se non si era capito :), al momento ne sono assolutamente entusiasta.

Après 1 an d'utilisation, je suis satisfait de ce modèle. Une étoile de moins car une petite pièce en plastique c'est cassée pour connecter la batterie à la tondeuse, cela fonctionne encore sans mais je dois faire attention à ne pas plier les broches. Bref le système de fixation de la batterie est à revoir et délicat. Concernant l'autonomie des batteries (j'en ai 3 pour 600m2 de jardin) c'est correct à condition de ne pas avoir une herbe trop haute. J'utilise toujours la fonction sans bac et je repasse une seconde fois sur les raccord pour ne plus voir de brins d'herbe... c'est pas vraiment plus long que de perdre son temps à vider le bac et devoir gérer un composte et cela donne de l'engrais au gazon.

Performance de coupe excellente y compris sur herbes hautes, et en mulching. Très légère et maniable en comparaison d'une tondeuse thermique. Le grand diamètre de lame permet de travailler des surfaces conséquentes très rapidement. En revanche, sans surprise, l'autonomie est limitée, à 15 minutes par batterie sur herbes hautes. (2 batteries incluses). Mais en 15 minutes on peut déjà couvrir 250m² avec la performance de coupe et la lègèreté. Ca va très vite pour tondre ! Silencieuse : on peut presque tondre le Dimanche après midi sans que les voisins s'en aperçoivent. Un ronronnement de bruit de gros ventilateur. Si les voisins sont en intérieur, c'est certain qu'ils n'entendront rien.
