Berlitz Language: Finnish Phrase Book & Dictionary (Berlitz Phrasebooks)

I have many of these Berlitz phrase books and have generally found them very useful and easy to use. This one is as good as usual. except it has some errors in the quick guide! I had a Finnish girlfriend for a while and checked this with her!These guides have an easy to understand phonetic guide to each word and sentence. So, you can get somewhere by just speaking this English sounding equivalent. However, pronouciation in Finnish is hard and in many cases subtle changes in sound, which we don't have in English, totally change the meaning of a word. I always have these on me as a back up in case of emergency. But the fact is just about everyone under about 50 years old in Finland is excellent at English.

Useful on trip to Helsinki. Very detailed food section good for an food allergic like me to mark items to which I am allergic. Possibility of CD + book in prospect????

Handy little book, has a lot of phrases in them.

Great book for learning finnish if your traveling finland, I reccomend if your just going across the country, but not if you trying to learn the whole language.

Useful book, however as everything in Finland was also written in English and everyone spoke English I did not need to use it.

Bought this for a friend who is planning to live in Finland. I haven't heard whether it's helpful or not but she was happy to receive it!

It includes the phrases alright, but the pronunciations leave a bit to be desired. I'm glad I know how to pronounce Finnish words.

The pronunciations are wildly off. Not the most common words and phrases.

good back-up for the Finnish for your trip cd and small booklet. i will carry both with me to helsinki
