The camera body isn't what's important it's the size of the front of the lens that matters. Chances are you have an 18-55mm lens, that's the focal length, somewhere on the end of the lens on the outer ring you'll find a number next to the Greek letter theta, a 0 with a line through it, that's the number you need for purchasing lens add-ons. No, do not do this for solar photography. Spend the $$ and get a real solar filter, and do a quick google search on the process. You can damage your eyes and camera by stacking up ND filters.
